I highly recommend getting your kids into scouting.

Also if anyone is accompanying their kid to goahen scout reservation this summer, I’ll be there as a counselor.

Great news. What camp?

I’ve been to Goshen many times as an adult leader. Both my sons are Eagle Scouts.

Marriott.  Used to work at PMI which is now no more (sadly). Was there for 7 summers.  I’m preparing for a lot of ribbing this summer over it.

Scouting is basically dead at this point.

I’ve been to Marriott to do training. What kind of cooking do there now?  I’ve camped at Ross (Ross is boss!) and Olmstead.

Scouting is basically dead at this point.

We had over 150 Scouts out this morning at a local cemetery placing flags on veteran gravesites.  Our troop is growing and sending about 50 scouts to various camps this summer. The training course I’m staffing this summer has a wait list.

You don’t know what you are talking about.

Heater stacks.  Just precooked food the patrols will pick up from the commissary.

In the 1980s, at Olmsted's two big campfires they wanted us all to chant "Olmsted Spirit" alternating words by which side of the campfire we were on. That rather quickly turned into "Less Filling—Tastes Great!"

The two years after that, we went to Bowman and cooked our own meals. Do they still have that option?

I never made it to PMI or to Marriott. The year the troop went to PMI, I busted up my hand in an accident and stayed home, plus I was going to Prince Edward Island a few weeks later to attend the Canadian Jamboree and that took priority. Marriott was seemingly reserved solely for troops chartered by Mormon entities at the time.

I remember those cheers from Olmsted in the 1990s.

Was a good summer at goshen.  I’ll be back at Marriott next summer.  If anyone wants goshen info, I’m happy to answer any questions.
