I hear that, if you like shots, there's plenty of places around Nats Park.

Just for a moment, I thought  it said that the Swedish Embassy was practicing the IKEA lifestyle... ;)

Hmm...free drinks, dog shows, waffles and pizza - and sculpture. Well done Greece.

We did the eu open house a few times in the past. The embassies along embassy row were very crowded. The ones a bit further away weren’t so bad.

https://www.wmata.com/about/news/Rail-Operator-recertification-lapse.cfm

Quote
Metro’s Chief Safety Officer reports that nearly half of Metro’s 500 rail operators have lapsed recertification, which includes classroom instruction, and supervised testing in the rail yards as well as on the mainline.

In consultation with the Board of Directors, Metro management is taking immediate corrective action to remove from service 72 train operators who became out of compliance prior to May 2021. This will result in a temporary reduction in Green and Yellow line service from every 15 minutes to every 20 minutes due to an operator shortage. In addition, extra trains to relieve crowding, support special events, or replace out-of-service trains may not be available. Service impacts are expected to continue until the end of May.

Union station renovation plan: https://www.washingtonpost.com/transportation/2022/06/16/union-station-dc-redevelopment-photos/

I hope they change their mind about limiting parking. Lots of folks drive in to catch early Amtrak trains (like me).

Seems like they were just doing a renovation not too long ago. Agreed about the parking.

Agreed 100%. My wife is unlikely to cooperate if I ask her to drive me for an early train. I also sometimes take the 3:00 Acela back from New York, stick my stuff in the car, and then head to Caps games. The loss of parking would make that a lot more difficult.

Upper Beach Drive to remain closed to cars - permanently.

This is pretty amazing, especially considering that the entire length of it from the zoo to the Maryland line was just rebuilt  :money:

Go NPS

I'm waiting for the bathroom stalls with cracked porcelain and doors that won't close to go on sale.

Sure. It would make a nice spittoon for the kids room.

I wonder whether the raccoon family that used to inhabit the DC United team store at RFK has found new digs?

The note the project is supposed to be complete by 2040, but the environmental review is already 3 years behind schedule and no funding has been secured.

Spent some time here yesterday: https://www.omuseum.org/visit

Highly recommended for a fun and different experience - think antique store meets museum meets hotel meets escape room. Definitely worth 2-3 hours. We did the self-guided tour. Parking is available around the back of the hotel through Spot Hero (21st street entrance)

Finally saw shear madness at the Kennedy center. Great show. Enjoyed checking out the new JFK and the arts museum on the top level as well.
