Nationals @ Braves, Game 1
« Topic Start: April 11, 2022, 07:06:16 PM »
     @

Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves
Where: Truist Park
When: April 11, 7:20 PM EDT
Weather: 68°F, 5% chance of precipitation
TV: MASN 2
Radio: 106.7 FM

Atlanta continues to have slightly delayed start times to account for traffic around the I-285/I-75 bottleneck not far from the stadium.

Pitching Match-Up:
Josh Rogers (LHP) versus Huascar Ynoa (RHP)

First start of the season for both pitchers, so no stat line. Both pitched reasonably well in spring training, but that's a really small sample size (7 1/3 IP for Rogers, 7 2/3 for Ynoa).

The Diamondbacks remain last in the NL in batting average, but the Nats have fallen to 15th in runs scored, walks, OBP, slugging and OPS. Four extra-base hits (3 HRs) in 131 plate appearances.

Washington Nationals

1. Cesár Hernández (S) 2B
2. Juan Soto (L) RF
3. Nelson Cruz (R) DH
4. Josh Bell (S) 1B
5. Keibert Ruiz (S) C
6. Yadiel Hernández (L) LF
7. Lane Thomas (R) CF
8. Maikel Franco (R) 3B
9. Alcides Escobar (R) SS
               Atlanta Braves

2. Matt Olson (L) 1B
3. Austin Riley (R) 3B
4. Marcell Ozuna (R) LF

he earned it after Sunday's game, but Davey isn't about to give up on Escobar just yet.

Once again, Frandsen not excusing a bonehead play by a Nat. Cesar didn't break when he hit it so he's on 1st, not 2d, for Soto

Ángel Hernández behind the plate. Joy.

Country Joe retired, right? So Ángel and C.B. can vie for worst umpire in the league.

Remind me again why soto is in the 2 spot? This experiment with Nelson Cruz in the 3 spot is stupid and soto should be batting 3-4

Ynoa has not been sharp. Nats have had chances every inning. Will this be the one where they capitalize?

Y'know, I had completely forgotten about Josh Rogers youthful enthusiasm and little shimmy-shake before his pitches. Good to see.

Strider seems a bit laid back a name for a guy throwing 100 mph.

Also, with that name he should be playing for Texas.
