Bezos is already a done deal.

But will he spend?

Would rather have the ex wife since she has money and more time on her hands.

Does building the first bionic superhuman Stephen Strasburg answer your question?

Apologies, I thought you were referring to their ages. I do agree that 4 equal majority owners would be 3 too many cooks in the kitchen.
by the way, when I mentioned the grandkids, I wasn't questioning their abilities. It's just the typical problem of multi generational succession when there's a mix of interests. Yes, the article says 4 are on board, but it is not clear how many more there are. Also, while Mark's generation gave him the de facto head of baseball role, it's not clear that there's one obvious and trusted choice in the next group.

The Yankees had a fun time when Hank and Hal were like Gob and Michael trying to run a business.

I think it would be good. Bezos current solution to business is to throw money at the problem. That works well in a sport with no salary cap
Especially when it is hands-off ownership with virtually unlimited money.

The Nationals can do much worse than the Lerners for ownership.

I wonder if Ted would be interested and have the resources?

That would be some complicated family drama if Old Man Lerner bought it out from under his kids in a different account

This was sent to Nationals employees today:

Quote
Good Afternoon –
We want to share some news with all of you. We have retained Allen & Company to explore growth and capital options for the team. Shortly, you will see a Washington Post story where we confirmed this information. There is no set timetable or expectation of a designated outcome. Options could be anything from investment opportunities, bringing on additional partners, exploring different revenue streams or selling the team. As revenue streams around professional sports continue to evolve and the strength of the Washington Nationals brand continues to grow, we believe it is prudent for us to assess all of the options out there. This process will not distract us from our goal of running a first class organization and our commitment to fielding a winning team. We are as committed as ever to you, our players, fans, sponsors and partners. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to this franchise.

Sincerely,
Mark Lerner & Alan Gottlieb

That's crazy. Thought the Orioles would be sold before the Nationals. https://noooracademy.com/orioles-chairman-ceo-john-angelos-statement/

Right, the whole no timetable thing is just trying to calm the troops. There will be no long term decisions made on the baseball side or business side until the ownership future is determined.

Right. This will be done by the end of the year and we can welcome our new Amazon overlord. :whip:

Would be great as long as he'll spend like Steve Cohen.

if the shootings continue around the ballpark, I think having some Amazons as guardians of our safety would be welcome.  Perhaps this is why there is a Wonder Woman doll being given away as a promotion?

Just pure speculation in this article.   Some pretty silly names after the first 2 or 3, but could be "interesting" if Kanye buys them.

If Bezos buys the Nats, does that disqualify him from buying the Commanders?

I'm surprised they didn't consider the Itkin brothers.

Yes. Legit, his solution to every problem is to throw money at it.

It will be Bezos. Dude has wanted a sports team for awhile now and I think he mainly stays in DC now.

Maybe he'll tell MASN to go f*ck itself and make the broadcast part of Amazon Prime.

Would that mean a postgame show I could watch as a subscriber? If so I’m ALL for that!

aroid wants in on ownership. I could see some ballplayers like Face  joining an ownership group with the Carlyle guy (not Mr. Vest, he has a day job). Kind of like Jeter tried to do. Max and Stras can't because they are playing.
