Luis Garcia hit a homer and is playing SS, with Adrian Sanchez at 2B. Sanchez can handle short, so I find it interesting they're keeping Garcia there.

Lot of decent AAAA players, even if my personal cause, Jake Noll, has fallen apart at the plate.

A few players I'm actually interested to see in DC after the major league roster is burned down at the deadline.

9 in a row, 12-1 in May. Won 7-4 yesterday despite Stevenson and Garcia combining for 0-11 in the 1 & 2 slots.

There really isn't much on the MLB roster that's tradeable right now and that they'd be willing to trade.  No starters, no relievers except maybe Rainey.  Of the position players it's just Bell and both Hernandezes. Last year's spree was 8 guys leaving.

Cishek gets fixed I'd imagine there'd be a buyer. Hand got Adams.  I'd imagine they could get a low-ceiling infielder. Frankly, I'd settle for a 1-2 WAR 3rd baseman.

They can move Bell, the Hernandez's, and Franco. Cruz will be given away or cut. That is give every day spots, though I wouldn't be surprised if they kept one of the three not named Bell. There will be at bats to be had for players in this system who show a pulse in the minors.

This team has lost 17 in a row. That seems pretty hard to do, even in minor league baseball.

Seen plenty of fluff pieces about the staff in Rochester. But it's tough to believe. It isn't like we have any guys getting better. Same old faces raking and not getting called up while the same AAAA pitchers getting bombed.

Cavalli is the only real talent on the pitching side.

Maybe another Jordan Zimmermann...at best.

Reliever Francisco Perez has looked good in the two times I have watched him -- three innings.

The prize among the relief pitchers is Tyler Clippard. Pitched two K's and a feeble 4 - 3 groundout yesterday. It was as if Clippard was toying with children.

well, Henry is a talent, too. Quality of performance isn't the issue. It's quantity with him.

Another Jordan Zimmermann would be absolutely fantastic.

A 118 ERA+ and 2 top-7 Cy Young finishes would be incredible

And throwing Washington's first no-hitter since Bobby Burke in 1931. Point is that Cavalli is not the next Strasburg. He looks pretty good at Rochester so maybe he will become a good starting pitcher for the Nats.

18 in a row now. At least Alex Call hit a HR.

I saw most of the game. A disaster. CJ Abrams leaped to snag a sharp liner. Call had that homer. Clippard pitched two scoreless innings.

The Rochester announcer went looking for MLB losing streaks, but missed the Nats' baffling 19-game streak in July - August, 1959. (Baffling because that team had Pascual pitching his first dominating season, plus Ramos, plus the "modern murderer's row" of Killebrew, Lemon, Allison, and Sievers)

Yes. Adon pitched again, folded in the 4th. Red Wings had a lead, lost it, battled back to tie the game, and lost it in the 9th. Abrams went 2-for-5, Stevenson got another homer, Call got a hit.

To go back to one of the earlier questions the Phillies hold the modern MLB record with 23 straight losses in 1961.  I believe there is a pre-1900 team that lost more.  The BLOS have the AL modern record.

WINGS WIN, 5-4, Snapping Skid

By Nick Grasso

The Rochester Red Wings snapped their 19-game losing streak Thursday afternoon with a 5-4 victory over the Norfolk Tides at Frontier Field. A big sixth inning helped propel the comeback for the Wings who hadn’t won a game since July 15.

RHP Patrick Murphy made his first Red Wings start, allowing just a hit and a run through three innings of work. It was Murphy’s first start since August 24, 2019, with Double-A New Hampshire.

After Rochester gave up a run in the first inning, DH Jake Noll logged an RBI single to score SS C.J. Abrams and tie the game at one apiece. RHP Logan Verrett came on in relief in the fourth and surrendered a pair of runs when DJ Stewart reached on a fielding error and Shayne Fontana hit a sac fly into a double play. Things looked bad for the Wings when Diaz hit an RBI double in the top of the sixth to give Norfolk a 4-1 lead, but the Wings had other plans in mind.

Noll started off an electric sixth inning for Rochester, crushing his 10th homer of the year to score CF Alex Call and bring the Wings within one. 3B Jake Alu then tied the game with a sac-fly that plated RF David Dahl. The Red Wings ignited the Frontier Field crowd with an RBI single from 2B Adrian Sanchez that scored 1B John Nogowski and put Rochester ahead, 5-4. It would be the game-winning run for Rochester.

With Thursday’s win, Rochester narrowly avoided dropping 20 straight games as their record improved to 48-60 on the year. They remain in eighth place in the International League with 42 games left this season.

Jake Noll played well, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a homer and three RBI in the win. David Dahl extended his team-leading on-base streak to nine games, tallying one hit and one run against Norfolk.

Rochester has stolen five bases in the last two games, with Abrams and Call each logging a steal on Thursday to help Rochester secure the victory.

The Wings went just two deep in the bullpen, calling on Verrett and RHP Jordan Weems, who was recently optioned by the Washington Nationals. Weems saw the mound in the ninth where he struck out two straight batters before 3B Jake Alu caught a pop fly off Fontana to secure the win for the Red Wings. Weems’ save was his 12th of the season, good for fifth in the International League.
