Doesn’t even feel like opening day. Sparse crowd. There doesn’t seem to be much optimism or excitement surrounding this team.

What a depressing crowd. Opening day is the one day where you can count on a packed house and some good vibes. Things are bleak in NatsTown.

Ugly game all around. 2 near headshots by Nats pitchers.

That's three hit batsmen. Buck looks perturbed, but then that's his default expression.

 I really can’t believe he’s a big league manager again.

I'm chalking it up to the weather, the delay, and the night game. First weekend vibes should be better. But the energy will follow the on-field product.

This has got to be the shortest opening game day thread?

Have the Nats made any prudent moves since winning the World Series?

Depends how you look at it. Traded away the entire team and saved a lot of money.

I left after the bottom of the 7th. Not getting an early lead, especially 1st and 3rd, 1 out, Soto then Cruz up, took some of the wind out of the crowd.  Through 4, shutouts, just didn't seem tense. Shiftiing the start time meant folks couldn't go, the delay also took the edge off. And that bottom of the order and bullpen. Yeesh.

And I am sunshine Squad

Pennies for Escobar. But that’s about it.

Really fun game and good atmosphere.

The Soto and Cruz with 2 on and nothing across ended the night.

Hit road early as well.

Ruiz looks good
Lester for Thomas. Signing Josh Harrison in 2021 after I think a waiver pickup in 2020 was prudent by any definition.

What a depressing crowd. Opening day is the one day where you can count on a packed house and some good vibes. Things are bleak in NatsTown.

As someone who went, first there was the switcheroo on the time less than 24 hours in, but it seemed packed and heavily Nats when the gates opened. Then when there was no information as to when it was going to start, the temperature dropped, the rain kept coming in and the wind chill kicked up, I think a lot of people who were planning on a day game decided to bag it.

This was while the scoreboard mentioned a “delay“ but no details. It was around 7:20 that the scoreboard was updated to say that the game will start an hour later. One has to figure that those relying on Metro also weighed whether to start heading for the exit to the point as well as get in out of the cold.

Oh, and did I mention that as of 6:22 PM, almost an hour after the gates open, many of the vendors had no food and the drinks had no carbonation? Per the one in our group going to grab food, a concession person indicated they weren’t prepping food until they knew it was a rain out. The person said they never should’ve opened.

I went to bed at 4-0.  That's what we've become.  I used to never miss a pitch, or think about going to bed until the game was over, even on the west coast.

tom and I were hoping for an appearance at the loft but figured night games from western Maryland would be tough.
I'm in Frederick now so it's not bad. Plus i get a discount on tix because I work for South Mountain Creamery. We have amazing ice cream
