Hey yo, Chico
« on: June 15, 2007, 03:45:48 pm »
In his last 8 starts, Matt Chico has a 3.52 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.

He only has a 1-1 record, but the Nats are 6-2 in those games because he's held games close.

What a great acquisition he was.  Props to Chico, and props to our front office for getting this guy (and Mock) for that fat tub of lard.

For comparison, Livo has an ERA well over 4 and the D-Backs are 3-5 in his last 8 starts.

I do like Chico and am very glad we have him. I was fond of Livo, though, even if he was rather, umm, portly. And he was a workhorse (but props to Chico on going deep into games, too).

If you use Mozilla Firefox or Opera for your web browser, an inline spell check is built-in ;)

I need to switch over, too. I still use Netscape because I like the email component. But I hear good things about the Firefox email component/companion -- Thunderbird, I think?

Good meals?  mmm, good Cracker Barrel!  Once my tummy is happy and my weight is off, I'll be hitting that place!  I miss good ole home cookin' like my momma used to make.  Thankfully I still have my grandmother (mom's mom).  She's a great cook, but in her early 80's and having to adjust it for my grandfather's health issues.  Plus some of her stuff isn't turning out like it used to.  age related maybe?  But I always loved her bean soup!  oh man!  Now that sounds good right now!

Now that's some country cooking! One of my long term personal projects is to gather a collection of my mom's favorite recipes into a family cookbook for my siblings. If your grandmother cooks like my husband's grandmother, then she doesn't measure ingredients but just works from memory and whether it has the right look or feel.

I still like Livan and would welcome him back. The trade was great, though. Chico is awesome. I think it was Air Zimmerman who said after like 3 starts that Chico was never gonna be a major league pitcher.

If Mock can just get healthy, that trade will look even better.

They are the same tools, broken apart. I guess I should say Netscape is a productized offering of the the open-source Mozilla technology, or something like that. What begat what is a difficult sequence to follow.

You can try Seahorse, too, (the open source "suite", a further development of the code that Netscape is based on) if you want the single-launch product. All are at www.mozilla.org.

I've heard a lot of good things about Cracker Barrel's food but I went to one in South Carolina and had a horrible experience with the service so I haven't gone back.

Cracker Barrel is awesome.  Great food and a cool country store in each one to look around in while you wait for your table.  I like to get Stewart's Orange Cream soda and something from their vast variey of candies.

I still remember that 55 MPH inside curveball to strike out Dave Roberts.  Livan did, however, get shellacked by the Yankees yesterday.
