This new pitcher signed had good MLB stats in limited MLB time through 2019.  Then not sure what happened.

My impression is that we are signing a lot of guys who are salvage jobs.  Guys who were once thought of highly who have busted.  I think that describes Harvey, Weems, Arano to a T. Nothing wrong with that, especially if the signee has team control.  We hit on two or 3 of them, great.  It means less pressure to convert guys before giving them a chance to prove they aren't starters (Rutledge, for example).  Not every guy who figures it out and becomes a reliever in his late 20s early 30s is doing it with banned substances.
The Nationals for the last 10 years have been really good about taking flyers on second and third chance starting pitchers.

I don't think it's worked out once. But glad they're trying!

was there another move?  Somebody called up or activated to Rochester's roster?

I get DSG maybe being told that the team is not going to bring him back up and the team giving him a chance to find another landing spot.  Maybe for Sharp it was also, "you aren't going to make our 40 man roster or be used as a spot starter, so you can find somebody who will give you a shot this season."

They just traded for three low minors players and they had the draft. They're going to have to make room. They also released a couple AA bodies.

Nats claim Jake McGee off waivers from Brewers and DFA Donovan Casey.
Just what the Nats need - another pitcher in his mid-30s with an ERA of 7.00. I have no idea what this team is doing.

It’s just filler for the Nats and Rochester to get through the season.

The bullpen has been gassed. They need arms they can pitch until they fall off.

Giving up Turner and Scherzer for the return we got was bad. That package should’ve been for Turner alone and there should’ve been more.

Ehhh, Casey was always going to be the first to go. Obviously the headliners were Ruiz and Gray, but Carillo is the X factor. If Carillo pans out, the trade looks pretty good on paper.
