I like this move.  I'd like to see him and Espino stick as multi-inning options, a left and a right.

Part of me was hoping for Aaron Sanchez.  I always liked the guy, and I think he would have been at least the 4th Nat to have pitched in the World Baseball Classic.  IIRC, he and Roark were on maybe the 2013 team, and Shairon Martis pitched for the Netherlands in the first WBC.  There may have been others, too.

I'm sure we will have other injuries . . .

I missed the Aaron Sanchez signing

He's the exact lottery ticket signing the Nationals should be loading up on during this rebuild. Low cost, small chance he pops.

Cruz scratched tonight. No clue if he will be back tomorrow or when.

But would be nice if had Tres Barrera up here and could slip Ruiz or Adams into the DH spot.

Later reports last night were that Casey was heading to Pittsburgh as strange-Gordon is sick, but they were waiting to see how s-g was doing today before making a move.

I'd rather a Casey-Stevenson platoon in CF than Robles. Or even start playing Hernandez more.

Robles needs a fresh start.

Put him in CF.  See if he can do it.

the scouting reports I've seen says he's basically Michael A. Taylor 2.0

If accurate, he should be playing CF every day.

Stevenson can't play CF.  The fact that he can't hit either is incidental.

I am not giving up my Stevenson torch yet. From Eury Perez to Rafael Bautista to Stevenson, someday one of our CF prospects with an iffy bat but elite defense and speed is going to come up here and be a competent center fielder at the big leagues. Casey may end up my next heart throb, but for now I am on Stevenson.

I know Stevenson is in Rochester for a reason. But my blood pressure watching him is much lower than Robles.

I don’t think Stevenson has elite defense though. At least not in CF where you may play a light hitter.

He was supposed to be an elite defender. But it never works out the way with our CF prospects. https://www.federalbaseball.com/2016/1/19/10788824/washington-nationals-prospect-andrew-stevenson-on-mlb-com-all-defense-prospect-team

They guy y’all are describing is Michael A. Taylor. He just won a gold glove and we let him walk.

Yeah, the Nationals sort of freaked that one up. But I still think Taylor benefitted from a fresh start.

Let's see how this season goes.

Maybe offensively, but his defense here was still strong.

Given the level of play out there since 2019 and the White Whale hunt for most of the time before that, I'm beginning to wonder what people mean by CF when referring to position #8 on your scorecard.

Had anyone who said he was an elite defender ever seen him throw a baseball?  Seeing him out there makes me want to hop out of the stands and go first to third on the pie-throwing little runt.

Nats claim Josh Palacios from the Blue Jays. Looks like minor league depth at this point:
