Fedde missed his last start so he is not a sure thing. The rotation is a mess although I think you will see lots of that in MLB this year. Short training camp after a full season which came after an abbreviated one.

all the reporting out there says Fedde has locked down a spot in the rotation. If he's hurt, Adon probably gets the short-term nod.

Anibel Sanchez makes the 40 man, Hunter Harvey optioned to Rochester.  Seems the roster is now set.

Clay should be optioned to oblivion. The rest seem the best of a bad lot. How long for Robles in CF if he doesn't hit? What if Dee Gordon outhits Robles? If Gordon hits .290 and Robles hits .200, is Robles "blocking" Gordon in CF?

What is "blocking all about, anyway? If the veteran is better than the prospect, the prospect has to beat out the vet, or else the team, is playing lesser players.

surprised Rogers didn't make it as a lefty long guy.  How many lefties in the bullpen.  Just Doolittle?

No way in hell Sanchez should be on the roster, yet alone the number 3 starter

Just a guess - if he bombs, that's the guy Cavalli replaces, with Rogers /Espino as the alternatives.

Told ya he is a 5. We have three of those. And two number threes. Corbin and Grey.

  My typos and misspellings are notorious.  Used to give Tom a field day.  I wish I could say they were just bad typing, but honestly I need to focus in order not to drop back to the spelling of more commonly used words.  I do this with to/too all the time.

I'm trying to talk myself into some of the newer arms, but there is really high potential for a soul crushing season of an exciting offense drowned by a staff that gets bombed nightly.

To be fair, Corbin is paid like a #1.

spotrac.com has him as the 10th highest paid pitcher in baseball.

We only hired him to be our # 3. Always felt he was overpaid from day one and predicted him bombing on the predictions thread for 2020.

I'm a wild-eyed optimist, but I think Corbin is going to knock his ERA down to 4.3 range.  Actually, that both seems like a stretch and not that optimistic.

Corbin is my pick for come-back player of the year, but I am a wild-eyed pessimist, so I am preparing myself for disappointment.

I would say Corbin was not "only" hired to be a #3. He was also an insurance policy against another Strasburg injury, able to step up and be #2 alongside Scherzer. And a healthy Strasburg gave us a strong 3-man rotation for the playoffs, which to me was the key difference that put the 2019 team over the top.

to some extent, he was supposed to be Strasburg's successor if he walked after 2019.  Rizzo's pattern was to have the successor overlap the last year of the departing player's contract.  Certainly was the case for Max and JZ, also Robles/Soto and Harper, and I think it may have been the case for Desmond / Murphy.

So a number of reasons to go out and spend the money on someone who wouldn't simply be a replacement for Tanner / Gio.

It's alphabetical order by position, until you get to Lane Thomas and Dee Strange-Gordon. It's like the hyphen threw the page designer off, or it was made up and somebody said "you forgot Dee."
