Colorado leads MLB with a team batting average of .260. Oakland and Arizona are last at .200.

Washington is 4th with a .254 team average.

The Mets are second (.256) and the Angels are fifth (.251), but they are first and second (.336 and .328) in OBP.

At this point last season, 23 teams were averaging more than 1 HR per game. Now, 10 teams are.

Changes to the balls? Humidors? Slow start to the season? Small sample size? Other factors?

Marcus Semien last night: 0-4, including 3 first pitch ground-outs and a 3 pitch strikeout. Now batting .165 / .228 / .217

Texas signed him to a 7 / $175 million contract in the offseason.

add $70 million, and that's what the Nats put themselves on the hook for when they re-signed Stras. but of course, big money to 30+ year old pitchers is never a problem.

I believe it's not technically a no-hitter because the Pirates were at home and thus the Reds did not pitch the bottom on the 9th, right? But yes we can all feel better that we're not Reds fans.

Donaldson suspended 1 game. I think that if you’re Tim Anderson and you’re comparing yourself to Jackie Robinson, I think you deserve being mocked for it. And I don’t think it’s racist at all to do it. I think Anderson just didn’t like it. To which my response is, don’t say stupid s—t like, “I’m the next Jackie Robinson”

Yeah it sounded a bit different in the headline - once I got to the reason, it did make quite a bit more sense. I have to wonder how many times Bryce Harper has been asked 'Dude! Where's your ring?' while on the basepaths.

I hope they confirmed Donaldson's story about this being a Barves thing back when Anderson made the remark as a rookie. I could see them thinking this was a violation of the unwritten rules, and being the knights templar of the unwritten rules I could see how they would continue to say it to him 4 or 5 years later. It does strike me as close to "where's my ring?" you say something dumb and you let others know it bothers you, it's going to be said again and again, which is what Donaldson did. The one game suspension is more or less a message to knock it off going forward. Unfortunately for Donaldson, he's going to have on his record "suspended for racist remark" rather than "suspended for not letting go of some trash talk years late."
