Wow. It'll be interesting to see if he can continue to defy Father Time in Washington.
I’m going to guess no. I detest paying that much for old players who if they’re playing THAT well are just way suspect, sorry.

I mean, he did do some clock rewinding a few years ago.

Ah well, I'm sure he's able to still be awesome in his 40's without them...

suspended in 2013 as part of the Biogenesis bust that caught A-Rod, Ryan Braun and Gio Gio Gonzalez's dad

I suppose if you held it against Braun, you have to hold it against Cruz.

If he hits even .800 OPS, I'll be happy. That will probably have him above 25 HRs. That's a serviceable #5 hitter to help protect Soto and Bell.

I've always held it against Braun. And honestly I don't care a ton about ped's, everyone is always trying to get an edge, but Braun was the biggest weasel ever and I just don't trust old athletes, Tom Terrific included. When they go over a cliff they're done, and it's not fun to watch.

0-20 . Doesn't portend well if he doesn't snap out of it. Didn't he fall off badly the last half of the '21 season?

Not gonna worry about his ST stats. I'll wait and see how he does when the games count before trying to figure whether or not he's gonna be a disaster or not.

Yes he slumped after landing in Tampa.

Zuck noted earlier he's had a lot of hard hit balls.

I think  we'll have one good hitter this year and he'll be bolting as soon as he can.  Nightmare of a franchise.

Pretty bad so far. Not a platoon option due to lefties dominating him.

I say give him his 100 ABs and if it isn't better they have to start looking at DH as a rotating thing to keep guys fresh.

I wouldn't mind Cruz as a pinch hitter with guys on late. Not like we have any power on bench right now. At least he has possibility of putting one over the wall.

They cant afford to not let him get out of this funk. They signed him (and probably overpaid) was to move him at the deadline. If we cant do that, he's taking up a roster spot that we can give to someone else.

Why?  So they can win 67 games instead of 65.  He is not the only one not hitting.  Let it play out.

Because letting Soto, Bell, and Franco rotate days at DH gives a chance to play to players who will be around beyond this season.

I think they brought him to keep Juan Soto happy. Worth every penny. Anything more would be a bonus, and it looks like we aren't getting that bonus.

The idea that we could move him at the deadline is wishful thinking even if he raises his BA by 50 points. No one is going to pick up the 5 mil he would be owed and the Lerners are not going to pay a portion of that. Some one throwing in a low A player isn't going to cut it.

It would be like 3.5 million at the deadline. Small price to pay if a team thinks he can actually help. If he hits teams will be interested. He’s not hitting any worse than Schwarber or Bell at this time last year.
