Clippard to the 15 day IL with a groin strain. Harvey and Arano back up
Likely Clipcraps' last season.  Solid career.  Now he can go play golf with Corbin, who's priorities are as follows: family, golf, baseball.

Not sure what you have against Clip to give him a nickname like that. :smh:  More than a solid career.  A groin strain usually is recoverable.  I would expect he'll be back.

Kieboom update from a few weeks ago:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/07/12/carter-kieboom-nationals-rehab-tommy-john/

Quote
Recounting his recovery, Kieboom laughed about the mundane tasks that now feel like huge victories. This past Friday was the six-week mark, meaning he no longer has to wear a brace. Living near the Nationals’ facility in West Palm Beach, Fla., he goes on long walks to stay in shape. He expects to start throwing and hitting in October. He has no problem saying he’ll be ready next spring, when he could be greeted by another shot to stick.

What he’s battling, though, is loneliness. He typically arrives in the morning to an empty clubhouse. Those playing for the Nationals’ Florida Complex League team are all on the minor league side. And after watching the first 50 games of the season, give or take, Kieboom is picking and choosing more.

He always checks the box scores. He is glued to any National League East matchup, figuring he’s likely to face some of those pitchers in the future. But catching every inning took a toll. TV on or not, there’s a great physical and metaphorical distance between Kieboom and his teammates, the ones trudging through a season that could end with more than 100 losses. Kieboom knows only time can close it.

“Baseball is not all I have ... but it is all I’ve ever really worked for,” he said. “I thought this was the year my career was going to get on track. Now that was delayed, and it’s okay. I mean, it has to be okay. I’m still so far from being finished.”

Does this count as a year of control for the team?

Next year is (another) rebuilding year. If he's healthy, may as well try him one more time. Nothing to lose.

According to https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/service-time, his injured time does count as service time. Service time includes time spent on the 26 man roster, and any time spent injured.

One more year of team control. No one blocking him at 3B or in the corner OF

If he's healthy, give him games. See what happens. If no progress, no arbitration.

yep, he's got to be the first option at 3B going into next year.

That sounds like a good plan.

The optimist in me wants to believe that he tore it/aggrevated it in September last year and that last August was him figuring it out

In a week or so, the team can bring back Clippard and return Weems to oblivion.

RHP Erick Fedde (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: August
Fedde threw a bullpen session of around 40 pitches on Aug. 6. He was placed on the 15-day injured list on July 30, retroactive to July 27. He felt discomfort following his last start on July 24. (Last updated: Aug. 6)

Also, Gore scheduled to throw a bullpen next Friday.

Doesn't have to, but if he's ok, no reason not to. If it were a ucl, maybe you would do prp as a preventative, but otherwise, if he's feeling good and tests well, fine.

Clippard has returned. Threw a scoreless at Columbus yesterday. Then a guy named Sadzeck lost it in the 9th.

I always forget how pricy Harris is.

We need to get away from these high 7 figure/8 figure per year pitchers and get a $100 million stable of low inning/low era commoditized pitchers.
