Davey says Anibal has yet to resume throwing and is just doing strength/conditioning work.
I increasingly don’t think we see him this season. Adon, Gray, and Aaron Sanche seem set for rotation. I think they appreciate Fedde going every five days. Josh Rogers is in mix. And I don’t think Corbin will be removed from rotation.

I think we’ve seen end of Anibal.

Adon owns a spot for several more turns. Gray is their #2. Corbin has a long leash. Beyond that, the rest are what have you done for me lately. I will be surprised if Rogers gets 4 bad stats in a row. Fedde they like but could be squeezed. As for Sanchez, I don't know if he gets another start. I could see keeping him around to pick up Corbin in a pair, but otherwise, I don't think they go 6 man rotation. Otoh, if he can't be sent back down, they may keep him as a long guy.

Charlie and Dave were saying they expected Sanchez to get 1 more start, but after that who knows?   He pitched pretty well yesterday, had a little bit of bad luck but otherwise was fine.

Zombies should breathe a sigh of relief.  Also, if they threw BP against Cruz, would that count as a "live" hitter?

Stephen Strasburg coming back and showing anything this season would make things much less gloomy.

Perhaps Parra would be a good replacement for Cruz. At least Parra can field.

I hear Robbie Cano might be available.  Would be a fair match up.

How genius is Anibal? Get healthy enough to do a showcase, sucker your boy RUSSO into a fat new MLB contract, get "hurt" and rehab all year to the tune of a couple million.

Cole Hamels did that like three years in a row.

Cruz was taken out with "lower back stiffness". Put him on 10 day IL and send him to Florida to recover. Switch off among YadiStar and Thomas as LF and DH.

Doooo moved to the 60-day IL. Sounds like it's more serious than initially thought. I kinda thought his ailment could lead to TJ, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Quote
May 5: RHPs Joe Ross and Stephen Strasburg throw lives
Ross and Strasburg each faced live hitters at the Nationals’ training complex in West Palm Beach, Fla. on Tuesday. Both are slated to throw lives again on Friday. The two pitchers had been building up through bullpen sessions. Strasburg is on the 10-day IL while recovering from thoracic outlet surgery and Ross is on the 60-day IL following right elbow bone spur removal. -- Jessica Camerato

Also, Doo apparently received PRP injections, so he cannot throw for 6 weeks.  I guess it is worth a shot rather than surgery.

Strasburg facing live hitters again today. Could we see him in Fredericksburg soon?

I can't remember the last time I saw Strasburg in person.  I think he was feeding dog treats to Rizzo during batting practice at a game last season or maybe it was the one before...covid fog.

PRP injections (and to a lesser extent Thoracic outlet surgery) seem to be kind of voodoo science.    I've heard of a few athletes trying the PRP stuff, but I can't recall it being successful for anyone.

I hate to say it -- but Stras has become as much a prima donna as deGromm and Kershaw.  That's what separates Max from the rest.
