Notes on Suzuki from the Post coverage of last night's loss to the Braves:

Quote
A former National announces his retirement. Catcher Kurt Suzuki, who had stints in Washington from 2012 to 2013 and 2019 to 2020, when he was a part of the 2019 World Series roster, said he plans to retire at the end of the season. He made one all-star appearance with the Minnesota Twins and played for five teams; he currently plays for the Los Angeles Angels.

In four seasons with Washington, Suzuki hit .252 with 27 home runs and 130 RBI.

Will Crowe gave up Aaron Judge's 60th home run last night, and pitched head-first into Stanton's walk-off grand slam. I think that Crowe did not get an out.

Dodgers extend Daniel Hudson. One year at up to $6.5 million based on incentives in 2023, and a team option for 2024.  He hasn't pitched since June 24 after undergoing ACL surgery on his left knee, before that he was dominant.

Rendon reinstated off the IL. He still has to serve a 5-game suspension, though.

That would be enough to make me root for the Mets.  I'd pay money to see Scherzer in a cage match to the death against Preller.

Bryce Harper undergoes TJ surgery.

"The prognosis is for Bryce to be returning as the designated hitter by the All-Star break of 2023 with a possible return to play right field towards the end of the regular season."

wow. Huge blow for the Phillies but they've got the hitters to cover for him until he returns.

Mark my words.  He will be back by early June. As DH. Salisbury is the team MLB writer.

2/$33 million with an opt-out after the first year. Glad to see him get paid but that's not a great deal for him.

he's so streaky that I guess he's hoping for a good 2023 and being able to score bigger next year after further distancing himself from 2020.

Re-upping after going there mid-season after a DFA from Milwaukee.  He's from Nebraska, so presumably he'll be stashed with Omaha.  Still a decent player - I saw him last year - but just not quite MLB quality.  Hope he finds success and proves me wrong.
