he's had one year with an ERA over 3.00 in his last 12.
That's how we got him so cheap.

Brewers are calling up Jackson Reetz. Hit .281/.392/.636 with 22HRs in AA this year after the Nats DFA'd him last year.

Ironically, he replaces Pedro Severino who was DFA'd yesterday.

that didn't last long, Reetz DFA'd.

Josh Bell:
Since the trade: .125 / .258 / .161
Last 7 games: .033 / .147 /.067

Our hitting coach is obviously much better than San Diego's.

Rizzo needs to just claim victory and anoint himself GM for Life.

Clay DFAed by the Mets.  He's now been with the Nats, Phillies, and Mets organizations this season.  Can he make it to Atlanta and Miami this season too?

Sam Clay makes Ross Detwiler look like Warren Spahn.

should be. he was the 6th pick in the draft his year.  Was he the #2 lefty after Price?

I don't know.  I don't care.  It probably will come as no surprise to you that the over-drafting and over-promotion of left-handed pitchers is a pet peeve of mine.  Detwiler would have been picked in the fourth round if he were righthanded, but Bowden is a fat drunk mess with a fetish for certain types of players, and 6'5" lefties is one of them.

I was more poking fun of the fact that Detwiler was the 6th pick his year than praising him as being worth all that more than Claytus the Slack-Jawed Lefty.

Yeah, getting compared to Sam Clay probably wasn’t what Ross set as a career aspiration.

To be fair, Ross is somehow still around at age 36.  I don't think that's Sam Clay's future.  At Sam Clay's age, Ross had over 500 MLB innings and was just kicking off the journeyman phase of his career.

Making room for September callups who aren't on the 40.

Also, the Nationals could do worse than Schrock.  Hell, they've already rostered Sam Clay and Alcides Escobar this year, so they've done worse than both those dudes.

Wow! A bit of prevention...but Braves will have a better chance, and the Mets, being the Mets, will have an even better chance of of tripping themselves. Met fans spear their team in the back at the first sign of trouble. One of the pleasures of watching the Nats at CitiField: let Ryan Zim homer on the sixth for a Nats lead and the entire crowd turns on the Mets.

I remember seeing Schrock at a Hagerstown Suns game in 2016.  He was definitely one of their better players - he caught my eye. His stats were comparable to Robles' that year (back when Robles had decent numbers).

6 perfect innings for Max, and the Mets are in the playoffs.
