Rendon probably slept weird and told the team he needed surgery and if they need him he'll be hanging out in Cabo for the rest of the year.

Ryan Zimmerman had his jersey retired in DC today. Cool ceremony.

I don't know if 3 IP in 4 games counts as much of a "Former National," but the Mariners have DFA'd Roenis Elias.

he's another one of these almost / tweener types, like Erasmo Ramirez, who floats around the fringes of pitching staffs for years.  I suspect Voth will go through this, too.

Elias has a massive advantage on those dudes in that he throws the ball badly but with the arm attached to the left side of his body.

Somewhere near Rochester, Sam Clay is smiling.  Somewhere far from a baseball field, so is Seth Romero.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/06/trade-candidate-michael-a-taylor.html

With his best offensive year since 2017, signs his age may be catching up with his defense, and reasonable contract, the article suggests he may be an attractive alternative to Cedric Mullins and Bryan Reynolds, who are being clung to tightly by their teams.

He’s part of my triad of relievers who I’ll always support.

It's OK; they called up two number one overall picks to replace him.

Classy move by Harper. After initially appearing to be irate at the pitcher who hit him he told the pitcher “it’s on me” before walking off the field.

Is there anybody on the 2019 roster better today, than they were in 2019?  It's almost as if winning the World Series broke everybody.

Strasburg
Corbin
Scherzer - (we will see how he returns)
Doolittle
Hudson
Sanchez
Ross
Rainey (meh)
Rodney
Guerra
Strickland
Gomes
Suzuki
AssCab
Dozier
Kendrick
Rendon
Zimmermann
Trea Turner - (ok, this could be the exception)
Eaton
Parra
Robles
Taylor
Soto - (let's hope this year is an outlier)

Trea, MAT, maybe Rainey. I think you can say Soto had 2 years better than 2019, but a step back this year

Tyler Clippard now toiling in the minors, somewhere, with a 2.45 ERA. After a bad first game, he has steadily lowered that ERA, apparently pitching more and more effectively. Maybe the Nats could swing a trade for "Clipp", even though Rainey is nowhere close to being a "Save"?

That was a little poke in the organization's ribs. Clippard has pitched better than any of the nameless re-tread and not-yet relivers the Nats have cycled through. Better than Finnegan, who falls apart under pressure. Yet the Nats act as if he is property of another club!

I thought he was on the IL for the year with a wrist? Did he use his cast as a club?

Couldn’t really tell what he did. Suspension starts when he returns.
