Spurs crushed Arsenal, 3 - 0.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/may/12/spurs-embody-antonio-contes-will-and-rage-to-run-arsenal-ragged

even on games and a point behind Arsenal for 4th.

Man City is at West Ham and hosts Aston Villa, Liverpool is at Southampton and hosts Wolves.  Looks a bit tougher for City, but Liverpool needs to win out and have City draw twice or drop a game. Goal differential favors City by 7.

Liverpool win the FA Cup on penalties (6 - 5) after 120 goalless minutes, against Chelsea...

Although Clermont lost today (0 - 1 at Strasbourg) other results mean that they have escaped relegation, and will still be in Ligue 1 next season.  :D  (I remind everyone that this season was their first , in the top flight, in the club's 111 year history...).

Spurs 1 - 0 over Burnley this morning (our time). Two points above the Gooners, who play tomorrow.

Dutch TV to be disappointed - with a final-day-of-the-season victory, Fortuna Sittard escaped relegation from the Eredivisie, so the 'We Are Sittard' banner shall continue... ;)

....and Gooners decided to take a couple of weeks off at a very inopportune time.  And the banana kit has got to go.

Gooners collapse again! Newscastle 2, Arsenal 0!

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/may/16/newcastle-arsenal-premier-league-match-report

Quote
This time, Mikel Arteta will find the cupboard bare if he tries raiding it for complaints. He had been enraged by the decisions that brought Arsenal’s defeat to Spurs but this time there can be no obscuring the fact that, when they could least afford to blink, his team did not turn up. Champions League qualification is still possible but only if they beat Everton while Tottenham, surpassing even their own jittery reputation, are overcome by relegated Norwich. It remains a season of progress and the evidence is that, in any case, they are not quite ready for a place among the elite. A hungrier Newcastle were superior throughout and must wonder what 2022-23 will bring if they continue operating with this intensity and verve; Ben White’s own goal and a late Bruno Guimarães strike settled the affair but Eddie Howe’s team could have scored several more.

I see Aston Villa has had a decent run in its last 5 games: 2 wins, 2 ties, and a loss. Love to see a tie vs City.

For those who missed it - Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Glasgow Rangers 5 - 4, on penalties, to win the Europa League. The game had finished 1 - 1 after extra time.

Yea I bet on Frankfurt in regulation so that results was predictable.

Anyone remember Gazza's "flute" celebration in a game against Celtic?  Rangers are all about drama

Given the toxic sectarianism, in Scottish soccer, it was one of the most mindless, insensitive and incendiary things he could have done. Completely ignorant...

Spurs win 5 - 0 to take 4th place over the choking Gooners! Son scores two, Salah one, and they tie for the Golden Boot! Poor Liverpool misses winning the PL by a point.

What a pleasure to watch Spurs, and the end of the other games! (And now the Nats in about 30 minutes...ugh)

Would be wild if Liverpool wins 3 cups but not the league. I guess they started a little slow, and the tie with Spurs meant they needed more than the City draw with west ham

Should Nippon Ham sponsor West Ham?
