Knowing Strasburg, this thread will probably pick up an injury...

I just want something out of him.

Then you should probably go fishing in his toilet.

...and this in the Post: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/04/06/stephen-strasburg-health-future/

I posted a couple times about Strasburg in a DH in the NL world making sense as an opener and high stress reliever. Rizzo shot down that opener idea.

I like Strasburg a lot. I almost feel bad for him. But damn what I'd give for him to even become Patrick Corbin at this point.

Not much good news in this article. Any thoughts to making Strasburg a reliever?

He has to pitch an inning in a real game before thinking about that...

Oh, i don't think that article is that much of a killer.  It's not like there's a setback.  It's more that they aren't rushing it.  I do agree that tinkiering with the motion is concerning, but he tinkered before.  He's a conditioning freak, too, which I think helps.  Finding a motion that uses more lower body probably helps velocity, and his legs and torso are strong.

He's under contract for years. If they think a few extra weeks reduces the risk even a small bit, then take the time.

That's pretty much what I meant. Rather than talk about Strasburg as a starter, let him get strong enough to picth an inning. And then three, and then five, and then...

you recall Smoltz closed for a couple of years after TJ before moving back into the rotation.

To be fair, I can't count how many times there have been sports related categories that drew zero guesses, let alone correct answers. Seems like that, and the only other category that's routinely met with blank stares is video games.

James is the exception.  He made his living as a sports better in Vegas before winning crap tons on Jeopardy.

Strasmas 3.0 - feels so 2010

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/06/07/stephen-strasburg-nationals-season-debut/

Quote
Stephen Strasburg is expected to start Thursday against the Marlins in Miami, according to two people with knowledge of the Washington Nationals’ plans. Strasburg threw a bullpen session in Miami on Monday, felt good afterward and decided with the team that he’s ready to join the rotation, those two people explained. It would be Strasburg’s first major league appearance since last July, when he underwent surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome.

His debut was on June 8, 2010.  Strasmas 2.0 was his recovery from TJS.  Strasmas 3.0 would be 6/9/22.  12 years and a day.

[edit  - corrected the Strasmas 3.0 date]

Think you mean 6/9/2022.

Will have to find a free stream for that game.

Have they had 10k yet this season?  For that matter, have we?

you can be sure that is Kasten were Marlin's President, there'd be 10,000 Nats fans in the house in Miami.

I guess we got Kastened when the Mets and Dodgers were in town.  Perhaps "Kastened" isn't the proper term

So if they stick with a normal 5-man rotation, I guess that means his first home game will be Tuesday 6/14 against the Braves.  Can't wait!

Thanks for reminding me of the utter contempt I had/have for that guy and Philly fans in general.

Kind of surprised that no one started a separate thread when Girardi got canned last week, but it's still not to late to congratulate them and their superstud lineup for falling way short of expectations.... again.

If Stras strings together 4-5 quality starts, is he a trade candidate, even with 4 more years on that contract?

No. He'd need to make pretty much every start left this season and be impressive. Then, maybe, there might be some interest. Injury history and contract can't be overcome by a handful of impressive outings.
