He’s a lightning rod for the playoff failures even though he generally performed well. The where’s my ring comment did not work out. And they would not have won four division titles without him. No Soto back then. Letting him go allowed them to sign Corbin which helped win a title. So there is that.
Circling back to Zim -- Zim has the satisfaction of playing his entire career with the same team and helping his team win a World Series.  Even though Harper is a future HOFer he may never win a World Series and will never get the satisfaction of being associated with a single team.  Furthermore, after he retires he'll leave town and head West faster than you can say "Three Hundred and Thirty Million".

Very very few players get to do what Zimmerman did.

Somewhere in storage my Ronnie Belliard fathead is crying tears at this name.

Zimmerman a class act all the way, hats off to that boss.

Harper still selling Gatorade and got the kids pumped.  Saw a LL group at Chick-Fil-A in Cary the other day and of the 12 kids wearing signature cleats six had Harper.  Entirely possible said LLers were Mormons but I was kind of shocked Harper still has that level of appeal to the kids.

Since this is a Zimmerman thread, JAWS has Zimmerman 40th among 3B. That's just behind Deacon White, who made the Hall, and well ahead of Pie Traynor, who also made the hall.

Hey, we can dream, right?

Seriously, if not for the injuries, Zimmerman was at least making a case for a HoF career.

Broke out most of the Harper discussion, but left a few that were on point - his reception and remarks at the Zimmerman retirement.  This is an RZ thread.

if you bought a ticket for Saturday's game, check your email, the NFTs have arrived.

That's a not inaccurate assessment of NFTs.

I thought they were going to have pictures of us in our seats or something cool. It was a gif with our seat number.

Yes, but it's a GIF with your seat number that also has a unique identifier proving you own that GIF with a seat number, and if someone right clicks that GIF and saves it, why, they'll have a copy and you can't stop them, but they won't have the awesome cool proof that someone made a digital entry in a log book that you were the one with that seat.

NFTs are the dumbest freaking grift since people started selling acres of land on the moon.

Couldn't agree more.  And somehow people are actually buying these.  Some moron paid $50 for this made-up GIF.

Went to the reopening of Dick’s in Arlington to see Zim. Got there at 12:30 to find about 200 people on line. Never made it to the front before he had to leave. He looked to be in fantastic shape. Consolidation prize was a stop at DC sandwich for a Banh Mi.
