The new location details are awful. Suddenly a new stadium near FedEx looks much better.Redskins missed the boat on a good Loudoun spot years ago. In hindsight, Top Golf area would have been perfect.
Loudon doesn't want them. The local state senator representing the area of Prince William that bought the team has said he will vote against the financing bill.
Speaking as someone who lives less than ten minutes from that Top Golf area, -thank God-! I know they aren't the draw they were at one point, but the roads here get more than enough traffic as it is, and I really would not want to deal with the headache it would cause. The One Loudoun development is a pretty solid use of the land and adds quite a bit to the area. Getting in bed with Dan Snyder sounds like the worst thing the local government could have agreed to do.
It sure would have been / could be a great spot for a minor league or independent league ballpark though. Remember the Loudoun Hounds?
Why would any politician make a deal with Dan Snyder? He is the most toxic person in sports and IMO any politician who gives him a dollar for a stadium should (and likely will) get tossed to the curb the next time they're up for election. All these officials should just wait and pray that the NFL owners decide to get sick of him and take him out with a poisoned Bud Light in his suite.

It's utterly hilarious that a mediocre defensive coordinator ended up being the final nail in the coffin for a stadium
They're a combination of the underdog who can't do anything right at the beginning of every kids sports movie, but with the likability of the rich kid team that ends up losing.
RICHMOND — The state legislator who’s led the charge to lure the Washington Commanders to Virginia gave up the fight Thursday, saying the latest controversy surrounding the team has proved too much to overcome.Senate Majority Leader Richard L. Saslaw (D-Fairfax) said Thursday he is giving up on the stadium bill because of mounting controversies surrounding the team, including comments by Commanders defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio Wednesday, in which he called the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol building a “dust-up” compared to the racial justice protests that followed George Floyd’s death in 2020.“This obviously was not very helpful to put it mildly but there’s so many other things out there,” Saslaw said, referring to investigations into allegations of sexual harassment and financial mismanagement. “There were just so many things out there that a lot of people are saying, ‘Saslaw, this thing needs to wait.’ ”A spokesperson for the Commanders did not immediately provide comment Thursday.
This will very soon head to the politics thread. I think the Del Rio comment is more cover for folks wanting to get out of a bad deal than an actual surprising shock that upsets what everyone thought about the club.
Listening to Chip Peterson talk about it, I don't think the initial sponsors realized just how unpopular Snyder was. Supposedly the feedback was universally negative. This gives them a way out that they will happily take.
I just don't see how the NFL lets this go much longer. There's no path to recovery for this franchise so long as Snyder owns it.
St Louis beckons. Once he arrives, he'll have another decade to destroy the good will moving will get him
