I will nominate this dude as a breakout star. Mostly for his name and hairdo.

Eileen Gu would have been the star, but she decided to compete for China

I think that is great. Will get lots of people upset. Hope she wins as many medals as possible.

Chris Chelios’ son and a few other westerners are playing for the Chinese Mens hockey team.

I hope US reporters press her for comments on Hong Kong and Uighurs

Who cares?  It's a double standard.  When Li Na won the French Open they asked her about Tianaman Square protests which were like 20 years before that.  But they never ask Djokovic about Serbian atrocities.  Will they ask Chelios the same questions?  Of course not because he will lose all his games.  She did this because her mother is chinese and probably realized it would be a financial gold mine.  We need to get off the moral high horse on these things.

She chose to compete for a brutal dictatorship actively engaged in genocide. There is no reason to give her any pass

Need some strong new personalities. No one wants to see Shaun White at 40.
I love that Shuster I think was the flag bearer. All these great athletes, and they turn to a guy in a sport where you half expect the players to grab a slice and a brew between rocks.

Would be cool if Gu would answer she changed because the Chinese are the superior race and she wants China to rule the world.

The dinosaurs chasing the Olympians in a cheap plug for the new Jurassic Park movie should be awful yet I adore that movie score so much I love these stupid commercials.

Was disappointed the mens downhill was postponed late last night.  High winds.  Maybe they will have better luck tonight (Monday afternoon Beijing time).

well, there's the best curling matchups.  Those are fun.  And Nathan Chen is a Yalie!

of course Harvard was Sarah Hughes recently and always was known for figure skater in the 50s and 60s.
Great ice, and most of the figure skaters were out of Massachusetts back then[

Edit - Sarah Hughes was Yale '09.

Aside from looking like it's on Mars, it seems like a pretty decent course...steep as hell in the first third and then with a treacherous narrow cattrack near the bottom, kinda like the Lärchenschuss in the Hahnenkamm.

She is not the only one. Zhu Yi ,born in this country, is competing for China. She fell both times in figure skating competition and was ridiculed by her "new " country. I don't understand as China does not allow dual citizenship. I wish both of those ingrates nothing but the worst.

She also renounced her US citizenship to compete for China. Hopefully we don't let her change her mind

I was there in January 1969 for the World Cup race and also the filming of Down Hill Racer.

Yep, possibly the worst decision of her life unless she's allowed to reconsider

That must have been amazing - and downhill racing before safety release bindings was right up there in the big brassies department.

Clear why Gu is competing for the Chinese.  She heard the USA team would not allow gold medals this Olympics.
