International symbol for the Ministry of Silly Walks

Have a friend in Ontario who tells me people are putting up signs for the Ministry of Silly Walks and recording people going by with their Ring type doorbells.  Seems like a much better use than using them to figure out who keeps letting their dog poop in your yard.

6.25” of snow today here in the wilds of northern Frederick County. Guess Mother Nature had one last trick up her sleeve!

My senior year in high school, I think we had 10" of around May 12, 1977, up in Boston.  I can look it up.

Edit - May 9.  Not much at Logan (1/2") but a little inland (Milton) it was 8", so my memory was only off by a bit.  I'm from Newton, so you can see from the link I was in the 5"-10" belt.

Crazy. It's breezy and cold in central MoCo, but just a flurry.

This weather sucks. It was 82 last Thursday, and as the temps tanked over the weekend, Daughter Mattionals caught a fever, had an upset stomach, and now all that has gone but she has a head cold, which she promptly gave to her dad.

Lately the hot-poker-up-the-rectum level property taxes down here in Tejas have been getting on my last nerve--to the point that I'm half-seriously considering a move back north--but man, this was an effective way of talking me down from that ledge.

what's the deal with TX for taxes?  I thought it was a low tax state?  Is it no income tax, no state money to locals, so locals tax property through the roof?  That's how NH used to be.

That's exactly it.  Granted, states like NJ/IL/NH are (I believe) worse, but TX is pretty damn ugly.  Plus, certain fees run high down here - car registration is annual and still costs more than Maryland, and heaven forbid you get a traffic ticket.

That's nuts. Florida has no income tax either yet my property taxes are 1/4 of what my relatives in CT and MA pay.

Heck of a line of storms tonight. Looks like power is out to a good chunk of western Prince William County (including us). Novec shows 12k home without power right now.

Not sure how often tropical cyclones make it into the Atlantic. But Alex is here.  Just lots of rain in central Florida.

And 98L is heading for the gulf next week. The Euro takes into Tampa, the GFS takes it west of New Orleans.
