Uwe Seeler at age 85. He was probably one of the most famous players in German football history; so well known in Germany, he even routinely shows up as an answer in German crossword puzzles.

I'm pretty sure I have his rookie card somewhere.

Actor David Warner at age 80.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Warner_(actor)

The various obituaries mostly mention The Omen and Titanic, but the roles I most remember him for were Evil in Time Bandits, Jack the Ripper in Time After Time, Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI and Gul Madred in Star Trek:TNG ("There are four lights!")

Aw man. That sucks. His role on TNG was iconic. He also randomly appeared a few times on Murder, She Wrote of all things.

The role I remember him most for was a video game one - Jon Irenicus in Baldur's Gate 2. Fantastic game and he did such a fantastic job as the voice actor.

Rough year for mob actors - https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/25/entertainment/paul-sorvino-obit/index.html
I actually remember him most as a cop, from Law & Order.

Ironically, he was also in an episode of Murder, She Wrote and in Star Trek: TNG (as Worf's adoptive brother).

Apparently, that has been retracted. Dow is in hospice care but his wife erroneously reported him dead. Circumstances sound weird.

Family announces that Tony Dow did in fact die this morning, after it was announced erroneously that he died yesterday.

Dow drops second day in a row.

(Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Bill Russell.  88.  Hated watching him beat my Sixers.  What a great player and legend.

I was just watching a documentary last night and he came up. Didn’t get to see him play live, but got to see replays. Read his autobiography as well. Getting close to the end of that era

Tough 12 months or so for that 60s era Celtics. Heinsohn, Sam Jones, and now the greatest winner ever. Cousy may be the last left
