When I was in London about a month ago I heard pretty much the same thing from a British observer - 'we're just going to have to get used to this' just like we already have with the flu and the common cold.

certainly no offense taken.  Just Aussie's been on my mind since he hasn't posted in a while.  In my mind, I think of the roll out of 12 AM on 1/1 as it goes around the world, with Auckland and Sydney popping to mind first.
