Max day-to-day. Missed his start today and isn’t sure if he’ll be ready for opening day per Tim Healy

Interesting.  Well, that settles it: the Nats clearly made the correct move by not re-signing him, and no sane person would claim otherwise, at this point.  You can certainly debate the quality of the return given that he was packaged with Turner in that deal, b-

And if the Nats had re-signed Max, as they should have...

Oh

Oh

Okay then

Imagine the Mets without Max and with deGrom breaking down.

Bassitt is good, but then there’s a big drop-off.

Depends which Carrasco shows up.  He's had 2 bad seasons in the last three, but the rest of his career is pretty strong.  And he doesn't look totally shot when he pitches, so there might be some chance of a rebound.

Bryce seems to have had a pretty good spring.

That should endear him to the Barves fans.

They're known as an understanding, cosmopolitan fan base.

the Mets do seem to have some kind of magic this year, just can't remember the last time a team was able to sustain a magical run for the whole season.

The division is really a mess so far. Mets already 7 games up. That won’t last but the other teams have been digging a hole.

I just hope the Phillies don't make the playoffs. I can't stand any Philly team. Their fans are the most obnoxious.

With Max out, the Mets rotation becomes:
Chris Bassitt, 4-2, 2.24
Carlos Carrasco, 3-1, 3.73
Taijuan Walker, 1-0, 3.52
Trevor Williams, 0-2, 4.20 (2 starts)
David Peterson, 1-1, 1.89 (3 starts)

Still decent, even without their top 3.

Tylor Megill rejoins Max and deGrom on the IL, strained shoulder, shut down for four weeks at least.
