This guy is a terrible athlete.  No way should we draft him

Good thing he plays baseball, then.  If you're drafting a bat at 5, he better be able to hit.  Everything else is secondary, especially on a team that will have so many needs.

Hitting is the one thing he kills it at.  His arm will end up as average.

If a guy is a surefire middle of the order bat, I don't care much about his arm or even how many he has.   But if you're going to be Kyle Schwarber in the top 5, you need to hit like him.

Yea, I mean several names come to mind of non athletic big bats:  Big Papi, Thome. Kruk, Luzinski, Adam Dunn, Ryan Howard, Tony Perez.

Hitting is athletic, and one of the hardest things to do in sports.

Just because its hard doesnt mean it requires athletcism. Yordan Alvarez isnt athletic but he's a top 10 hitter in baseball.

I mean no harm by it. And I still see Kruk and Luzinski jerseys around here.

I know. No problem. It’s definitely what I grew up watching.

I'd love to get Ivan Melendez from Texas in the organization. Wonder if he'll still be there for the Nats second pick. I kinda doubt it...

Here is the latest ranking from Fangraphs.  Kid from JMU is up to #4.

Keith Law’s latest

1. Druw Jones
2. Holliday
3. Elijah Green
4. Cam Collier
Nats: Parada
6. Johnson

Really not wild passing on Johnson in this scenario.

Don’t see the Orioles going with Jones instead of their usual pool strategy.

Johnson seems like he’ll move fast for a high schooler

Yeah, everyone is saying he'll be fast moving.

Termarr and Cam Collier were the stars at the combine. Callis is going to have Termarr 1-1 to the Orioles in the next mock.

I've been really high on him, it drove me nuts that the mocks had us taking Parada over him.

Oh, that swing.

Yeah haha, they've always been high on him but the hype train now is getting pretty crazy.

For the same crew, they thought Marcelo Mayer was the top player in the 2021 draft. They were also very high on Khalil Watson and Brady House.

I’ve read the opposite I think. Khalil Watson had a rough year though

But I posted mainly to point out that their presumptive top 5s do slide. It’s not like the NFL draft

Rocker has 25 K's in 15 innings. I say we do it.
