2022 first year player draft
« Topic Start: December 07, 2021, 07:10:20 PM »
We have the number 5 overall pick.  This class is heavy on hitters, especially high school.  I want the best bat available.  Chase delauter out of JMU seems interesting.  Dominated on the cape this past summer and is said to have 40 homer upside with an above average hit tool and command of the strike zone.

Oh hell no...then we'll be getting daily updates on Chase Delauter on WNFF for the rest of his career...

sure, and after he signs as a free agent elsewhere, we'll have an out of town scoreboard thread delivering hate his way

The high school hitters would be close to House's timeline, de Lauter sounds maybe quicker to the majors?

Won't have to worry about that...we'd find some way to break him long before...

House would have a one year head start though.  By the time a college hitter is signed and playing house would likely be in high a (late July) and then they’d be on roughly the same track

He has Elijah Greene going to the Nats at 5.

if he's coming off an injury that lowered his draft stock, he'd be a perfect fit.

Speaking of that, Rocker isn't in the top 10.

Not really. Nats normally draft/sign position players with good discipline, often valuing contact over power

Those top 5 all look like offensive studs.  Would love any of them.

The more I read about Greene, the less I want the Nats to draft him. Would much prefer Druw Jones, Termarr Johnson, or Jacob Berry

maybe I'm stuck in the old Taylor / Espinosa  / Desmond / Hood mode. I don't know what to make of Stevenson, and don't know House's rep

Add brooks Lee to that mix too.

I like that the top two college bats (berry and Lee) are switch hitters who don’t project as first basemen

I think Robert Moore is gonna be a stud, could see him locking down 2B and the lead-off spot for awhile for whatever team takes him.

Jacob Berry off to a hot start for LSU. He could get to the bigs pretty quickly, not sure if he can stick at 3B though but now that we don’t have the DH who cares.

Carter Kieboom fits this profile as well.

I hate drafting crappy defenders

I prefer brooks lee.  Unless we get andruw jones or Termarr Johnson, I want one of Lee, Berry, or delauter.  I could see Rizzo going for Lesko though.

It doesnt matter because you have to be able to hit to make it to the big leagues. The NL has the DH now.

Johnson and Druw Jones are the two I’ve really liked. They’ve propelled up the draft boards, though.

Curious what happens with Rocker as well.
