NCAA Basketball 2021-22
« Topic Start: November 08, 2021, 03:50:06 PM »
ESPN running a blip at bottom of screen saying Gonzaga is favored to win the title again.  Don't tell Baylor.  I guess they mean "favored again to win the title"?

Now a basketball school and not a football school.

Yale's got an interesting one at Seton Hall on Sunday.  They handled UMass very well at home yesterday and got nice play out of their 3 starters/ rotation regulars who remain off their 2019-2020 team.  However, the thing to watch is their group of 6' 8" / 6' 9" guys who either have not yet played in college (freshman or sophomores, Ivies didn't play last year).  They are replacing two studs, Paul Atkinson and Jordan Bruner, who allowed Yale to basically play with 3 guards 2 years ago. Bruner started some for Alabama last year before getting hurt and Atkinson is starting for Notre Dame this year as a grad student.  One sophomore, Yussif Basa-Ama, moved to the Florida from Ghana as an 11 year old and was POY in Class 3A in 2020 (I'm not sure if that's by division) and a finalist for Florida Mr. Basketball.  Looks more like a big wing guy for now, I think. A junior who played some as a freshman, Isaiah Kelly, had a good career in ATL high school, and is starting, and is more of a 4 playing center.  I often jinx them when I watch on TV, but the game Sunday at noon is on FS1.

Did not see the games but Penn lost the opener to Florida State by 30 and last night to George Mason by 20. So looks like a tough year for them. Jelani Williams is a nice story.  Finally playing after three knee surgeries. Local DC kid.

Navy is better at sinking shots

And then UMD barely survives Hofstra.  This is why I can't watch my college team play basketball. :smh:

George Mason looked pretty good. And UMD isn't good enough to take anyone lightly.

Luckily UMD has become a football school since joining the Big Ten so no one notices the basketball failures.  :hysterical:

Bump. Worst coach out there. Doesn't recruit, blames fans, blames players, has no coaching ability. A selfish, lazy, fake-Kansas-nice coach who doesn't deserve a dime. I have never despised a person in sports more. He has nuked the Maryland basketball program.

But he brought Danny Manning in to be an assistant after the great job he did at Wake Forest!

I am not sure about overall attendance but it looked like the fans were still there in the lower bowl and energized.  How long will that keep up?

And... he's gone. Unfortunately, Manning is taking over.
