It is interesting that there seems to be a lot more action in the market before the MLBPA agreement runs out than there has been at this point in recent offseasons. I suppose players and teams don't want to be left up in the air once there is a lapse in the agreement. they don't want to scramble for contracts on the other side once there's a deal.
There will be two very distinct groups: The ones who want to get it done before a new CBA, and the ones who want to leverage the new CBA.
Guys like Rodriguez, Verlander, Heaney, and Syndergaard make sense to sign now, as their offers wont get much higher. I would expect some more to follow. Chris Taylor probably would be the biggest one.
The guys like Castellanos and Schwarber will wait for a universal DH
