it happens enough that oven mitts became fashionable. Happened to Trea in 2019. There's probably a formula that could estimate whether it makes sense. Biggest variable of course is the likelihood of any successful steal of home, then probably an estimate of injuries on steal attempts per attempt, and then WPA added by the steal vs WPA lost via lack of success. WPA added would have to be diminished by the likelihood of injury and the subtracted diminishment of the likelihood of a championship. My guess is going from 4 to 5 runs didn't add a heck of a lot of win probability or championship probability.

So the solution is not to run the bases? And the Red Sox had the tying run at the plate the next half inning.

well, a steal of home is not as easy as a steal of another base, and the runner is already in scoring position.

No one said that. I just thought the added value of that run was not worth the risk. I would rather save it for a closer game if I were him. Bet he doesn’t steal home again in the playoffs.

Was listening to the Brewers game earlier on the radio with Uecker. His voice has really changed. Not surprising considering he is 87. Still enjoyable though. I wonder how long he will keep it up?

he got in one good one after my post.

Big home run day all around. Rays had a grand slam and a solo, Boston had 5, sf scored 4 on 3 hrs, hts for all the scoring in Milwaukee.

The other thing is, bullpening is great, but it's still better if one of your arms gives you 4-6 innings
