I was surprised to read that Chisholm played for Great Britain in the WBC a few years ago. Well, not that surprised...it is the WBC (ciao, Signore Mike Piazza)
Yeah, the WBC standards are a little odd, especially for countries without a strong baseball tradition but which the MLB apparently hoped to market itself to, like Italy. At least with the Netherlands, Aruba and Curacao are still part of the kingdom, so Dutch Caribbean players fit on that team. But the Bahamas is independent. Elizabeth II
is Queen of the Bahamas, but she's also Queen of Canada, and I don't think having Canadian players on a British team would make much sense either.
