Well that was rather a disappointing result this afternoon (lost 4-1 at home to Ottawa).

Will we ever have another sports day like 31st January 1988? That day began with Capitals home to the Flyers, the Caps winning with Kelly Miller scoring the only goal in overtime...followed a few hours later by the burgundy-and-gold devastation of the Broncos in Super Bowl XXII. With the exception of the Nationals' first-ever home opener in 2005, that was arguably the greatest day in DC sports history.

May 30, 2018 is a close second for me. The Capitals won game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals to turn that series around en route to winning the Cup. It was also their first win in a SCF game in franchise history (oh, and did I mention "The Save" happened?). On that same night, the Nats completed a sweep of the Orioles in Baltimore.

The Orioles certainly exacted their revenge last season. Oy. And the hockey gods have apparently decided that the Caps are going to be the turds of the Metropolitan Division in 2022.

Reminds me of what happened to Tom Poti. There aren't many players left who don't wear visors...Chara and Lucic, not many others. And Chara is too tall for anything to reach his head
