I haven't logged in here for well over a year, but I want to express my condolences to Mathguy's family.
After buying a new (lightweight HD) TV, Mathguy offered his old TV-DVD-VCR 26" combination unit for free to WNFF members, probably around 2005-2006. kimnat also wanted it for a second TV, but I was using a blurry 20-year-old 19-inch TV. I came to Mathguy's Arlington VA home to get it, where I met Mrs. Mathguy too. He helped carry that 150-pound unit to my car. That thing worked for about 10 more years and the VCR still works. Somebody threw away a 32” HD widescreen TV, which I use now.
I really appreciate Mathguy's generosity. He is the only WNFF member who ever met me. I asked him not to tell anyone that we met. I told him I thought it was funny that some people on WNFF thought I was a kid in 2005, because of my avatar. He kept that secret for the rest of his life! I sent him a PM during the 2019 World Series run, reminding him of his TV, which he had forgotten about.
I have not watched a single baseball game since the Nationals' World Series win. The MLB commissioner can shove it, with his 2020 weirdo rules, and then interfering with Georgia's 2021 election laws. Let me know when the All Star game is rescheduled to be played in Atlanta, you hypocrite!
I was not going to watch this team when baseball returned to Washington in 2005. 3-hour games and a 162-game season is a LOT of time! RFK Stadium was not ready for baseball then, so the team was on the road for the first few weeks. They rose to first place, so I started watching and got hooked. We endured bad seasons for years, and I tried to make people laugh on WNFF in the GDT's. I donned a gorilla suit behind home plate, during the first game played in Nationals Park in 2008. The World Series championship was great, after all we endured. But now, I don't miss the game at all.
