A crafty lefty without much control.

He's about to crater

Keith H. or Gary C. pointed out that Rogers went to 3 - 0 again and again. But won't crater this inning.

7 inning game. Maybe smoke and mirrors holds up?  I forget which ballplayer said about Tom Candiotti before he developed the knuckler, "how do you hit him? Go out the night before, get really drunk, and hopefully that slows your reflexes down so your bat is his speed."

Great! We got 5 out of our starter. Now just turn it over to our reliable set up and closer and we are home free

Finally! A base hit with a runner on 3B. And not a simple single!

not meaningless -- it gave someone else (Thomas in this case) another opportunity to choke with 1 out and runner at 3rd.

Whether the runner is on 1st, 2nd or 3rd affects how you pitch to the hitter, so not completely meaningless.

Wilmer Flores pitched for the Lakeland Flying Tigers tonight.  And lost. Did not see any tears.

oh, for sure. Actually it was a good play and should not be judged by hindsight. Rogers has not hit in mlb before. High odds swing away wouldn't advance the runner. But usually, even a pitcher, runner on 2nd no outs, I would take 3 shots to drive him in rathet than 2 from 3rd.

Another Nats pitcher throws the ball down the middle of the plate in the late innings
