ND may be the school where the expectation most departs from reality. I think Kelly may have enough of a name to actually recruit against Saban

Agreed. Any coaching job where you are let go less than two years after winning a championship is not that good of a job.
So you are saying Davey Martinez has a better job than the coach at LSU?  But LSU pays more . . .

I think you are right.  LSU is a heck of a job.  That program should be in a position year after year to be one win (vs. Alabama) away from the SEC playoff / BCS series / New Years bowl.  That division is tough now that Ole Miss is back and Auburn (down now) has its history, but it's very easy to see a 1 loss runner up making the BCS.

They seem to be in the Top Ten every year. Just not good enough to compete against the top 2 or 3 teams. They need to join the SEC.

the SEC needs to replace the bottom half of the NFL.

The squad I don't quite get is Oklahoma.  They need to be in the same conference as either Nebraska or Texas.  Big 12 or whatever they are in doesn't get enough coverage.  Frankly, the "power 5" conferences for CFB probably should become a power 3, or just have a TV show "SEC and Frenemies."

Oklahoma's in the same conference as Texas—the Big 12—and both of them are moving to the SEC in a couple of years.

ok, that's good.  I remember UT moving, but forgot OK was as well.  I'd imagine Bedlam will continue like UGa -GA Tech as a regular out of conference game.

OSU's head coach has publicly speculated that it will not. Recall that UT-TAMU did not continue after TAMU moved to the SEC.

I think it would be criminal for Bedlam not to continue, just as I believe it is a heinous and criminal act that Texas and TAMU did not play while they were in different conferences, but college football is sadly not run for the benefit of neutral fans who want to see fierce and competitive games.

I never thought I'd say it, but I miss the old Big Eight. Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Ok State.   Missou too, right?

And PAC 8. And a Big Ten with 10 teams. And how about the SWC.

SWC was the Pigs plus Texas (UT, TA&M, Houston, SMU, Baylor, TCU, and . . .)?

I think I was cool with the PAC 10 when they added Arizona and ASU.  They lost me with Utah.

when I think "Pacific," I think Utah.  But I stink at geography.

So who’s #1?  Gotta be Michigan, right?  Bama 2, Georgia 3, Cincy 4?

The committee will be working hard to find reasons to keep Cincinnati out. That’s their focus.

I think we'll see Alabama-Cincinnati and Georgia-Michigan as the matchups. Part of my thinking is that they want to keep Cincy in their place and sicing Alabama on them is probably the best way to keep them out of the final. Georgia-Michigan also could actually be a good game.

I guess that works out to #1 Alabama, #2 Michigan, #3 Georgia, #4 Cincy. But #1 Michigan, #2 Alabama, #3 Cincy, and #4 Georgia works too.

I think they'll fix it so Alabama and Georgia do not play in the semis.  The only advantage forcing them to play again in the semis is it'd assure a midwest team and an SEC team in the final.

I think Michigan deserves the #1 slot, but yeah, it will be Alabama and Cincy in round 1

I don’t think a one loss Michigan is more impressive than a 1 loss Alabama or Georgia. Alabama has the better win, Georgia’s loss was more excusable
