Iowa has been unstoppable on the road against teams with god-awful uniforms.

Iowa definitely the biggest chance MD has had at a top 5 win in a long, long time. Iowa is more like top 20 than top 5 and our strengths match up great with them. Win the damn game and keep it going.

Like the curse of the Bambino. Could take decades to recover.

I took Arkansas and the 16.5 points.  That sure looks like a mistake.  Georgia cutting through them like they are swiss cheese.

OK, Arkansas.  Enough fooling around.  Time for that comeback.

University of Hawaii is now playing at an on campus facility because Aloha Stadium was declared unfit for use. Ching Field. Supposed to hold about 9000 fans but unfortunately no fans allowed yet this year due to Hawaii’s strict Covid rules.

While I agree it was stupid to fire Ralph, UMD will always be a mediocre-at-best team. It's just not that important to the university.

And that's fine. The goal of a university is education.

...and basketball...football is a footnote at UMD...no pun intended...

South Carolina v. Troy looks likely to lead off C'Mon Man tomorrow night. ESPN.com has the video of the bonehead Carolina defender.

Thrilling win for w&m. Down 21-3 at half, held on to win 31-24 after Albany drove to the goal line.

ODU has been in FBS for years.  Conference USA I believe.  Not sure why these schools want to do this--best you get is some crappy bowl game against another crappy conference instead of playing for actual championships in FCS.  I guess getting whipped each year by Coastal Carolina will be fun!

I dunno...nobody gives a flyin' freak about JMU...maybe they think this gets them some attention.  You know:  "There is no bad press."

ODU records since joining Conference USA.

6-6
5-7
10-3
5-7
4-8
1-11
1-6 this year.

They were not even a program at the FCS level for long before they moved up. Better to be a big fish in a small pond I always say. I have wished for many years that Temple would have moved down to FCS. Natural rivalries with Villanova and Delaware.

Liberty is having some success in football and that’s probably got their attention.

you are right, they moved a few years ago. JMU has been under pressure to move up for a while now, we'll see what happens.

Money’s better as an FBS school.

Is it for the bottom feeders? Any bowl they manage to make will cost them money to attend. I guess an SEC or BIG10 will pay to kick the crap out of your players for a game, but then students start losing home games because those schools aren’t doing home and homes with a sun belt team.

Yea I have wondered about that.  They have lots more in costs traveling to other conference opponents also and probably increased costs for recruiting and such. Not much additional tv revenue in those conferences.

My understanding is that yes, it is. Those conferences have more media rights than the lower levels. And a lot of the big conferences are restricting how many FCS teams the conference members are allowed to schedule, so there's less incentive to schedule them. So, if they can get aligned with a FBS conference, it opens up more possibilities. Plus, there are enough success stories, like Costal or App St. and others, that suggest that you can make the jump and build into something successful. It does come with higher expenses, but I think the rewards can make it worth it.

The multi-tiered playoff system has to have cost JMU a fortune these past how-many years...and nobody even knows they exist other than the Alum, or parents who somehow insist the program is legit because their kid goes there...

At least they can get on TV at the Jamaica Bowl or whatever...

Those games are all on tv so their must be revenue of some sort. Although I have no idea how it might be shared.
