This Murphy has had all sorts of injuries, but he just threw a 98 mph strike. Not bad.

Did you find the new aspect of the Nats being in DC to be exciting ?  That new aspect has died down.  But we watch every game here in OBX - without the benefit of getting to go to 20-40 games a year.

I recall watching those bad teams in the early years every night with enthusiasm. I don't know how I pulled that off because it's tough to watch this crap now. :?

I was trying to remember about Murphy. So

Quote
Murphy, 26, was a third-round draft pick in 2013 and pitched just four innings in his first three years of professional baseball. That’s because he dealt with a stress fracture in his arm, a procedure for thoracic outlet syndrome and another to relocate a pinched nerve in his elbow. He also underwent Tommy John surgery as a high school senior.

This year, he was slowed by a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, putting him on the wrong end of a roster squeeze this month. But after Murphy was designated for assignment despite a 0.00 ERA in 14⅔ innings with the Class AAA Buffalo Bisons, Blue Jays Manager Charlie Montoyo told reporters he hoped Murphy would clear waivers and remain with Toronto. Then the Nationals snatched him, the first sign their approach to waivers had changed.

On one hand, Murphy offers limited roster flexibility because he is out of minor league options after this season, meaning the Nationals would have to carry him on the Opening Day roster in April or risk losing him on waivers. On the other hand, the earliest he can reach free agency is 2027. Since he was acquired by the Nationals, he has pitched only two innings for the Red Wings. He was promoted Tuesday and was expected to meet the Nationals in Miami.

“With no options after this year, yeah, this is my time to prove it and be something for this team,” Murphy said in a recent phone interview. “I feel like everything came together this year, at least in the minors, when I was able to get into a rhythm, regular work, not worry about anything but pitching. I’m right there.”

FP ain't got nothing on the Clubhouse Showcase they're doing on the MLB channel for the LAD/SD game.  They take annoying to a whole new level.  It's awful.

I'd say the Nats are making it interesting in the 9th, but I'm not particularly optimistic at this point.

There are many games that are close in the final score and keep the game going to the 8th or 9th inning

I'd say the Nats are making it interesting in the 9th, but I'm not particularly optimistic at this point.

Since the beginning of July, Nats Park has NOT been a fun place to go.  You're not missing anything.

And what makes me mad is that the lackey host (can't remember his name - he's the co-host of Intentional Talk) read only positive messages from viewers.  There must be 10 negative messages for every positive message.  If you notice, the bottom third of the screen is lost because they feel the need to show the chit-chatters.  I want to see a full screen of baseball.

The fans are certainly voting with their feet...from 2019 to 2021 home attendance has plunged from 27,898/fixture to 17,115/fixture, a drop of 38.7% (source: ESPN.com).

There may be something else contributing to an attendance dive, though I can't think what that would be
