He is showing flashes. After his disastrous run in the field early in his call up this season, he has looked better. And the bat is looking better than it ever has in the majors. Barring a complete crash down the stretch, he is the starting 3B next season. I don't know if he is the long term answer, but he has earned the right to be the hot corner starter for the Nats in 2022.

I think he was rushed in 2019 and 2020, but it is time for him to start producing and he is showing signs of doing just that.

Dude put too much pressure on himself to be the guy to replace Anthony Rendon on a team that was "built" to contend. Take away the contender context and now he can go out there and show his worth by developing into his talent, and not be pushed for it to just be there already.

Let's just move him to LF now, rather than waste more time.  He is not an infielder - lacks the hands, feet, and arm accuracy.  Other than that.....

He’s our best young hitter. He can handle third.   We have much bigger problems

Now that he isn't flailing with the bat, I'm fine if they let him finish the season at 3B.  Maybe he long term needs to move to the corner outfield long term, like an Alex Gordon, but I don't think the Nationals are there yet.

I think the Nationals can mark him down as Opening Day 3B in 2022 and be comfortable he'll be a positive WAR player through the season. Mix him in around Soto and Bell and he'll get a lot of lefty relievers to work on.

I think there is a viable arguement to try him at second base. He seems more comfortable shifted over to that side.

I think there was some talk to do that in the minors if I recall. His bat plays up at 2B more than at 3B for sure.

been thinking this way for a while. He still moves more like a middle infielder than a 3rd baseman.

I just dont think he is sure handed enough to play the hot corner. And that arm at second would turn a lot of double plays.

And then the Nats can sign Kris Bryant to play third

Garcia's bat plays better at SS, and he's the best of our defensive options under team control in 2022+.  That said, I'd still think of moving Kieboom to 2nd and Garcia to either Rochester or the bench if we sign a SS like Baez to a pillow contract.

Yea, both Garcia's and Kieboom's bats play up better at SS and 2B respectively. I don't know if the Nats would pull a big blow like signing Bryant to play 3B. Is Bryant still looking like a 25M+ a season guy or less? If less, I guess I could see it. If not, very doubtful. It's going to be full of deferred money anyway.

Same.  Too many Ks and too streaky.  Few examples of yearlong dominance and he’ll want to be paid like he has multiple

If we want a one year SS, I'd rather we get Jose Iglesias and see if Garcia (and Cruz) can learn anything from him

Esccobar seems to have earned consideration for another year.

Yes. He makes plays, he knows what he's doing, and he hits.

I'd rather they plug somebody in at 3B and move Kieboom to 2B and Garcia to SS.

I've seen enough of Kieboom.  He looks a like kid that needs a hug from his mom, and should transition into his post-baseball life.  No "it" factor.

He should be in the 2022 Opening Day starting lineup, with a very short leash.

At least through May.  If he somehow picks it up next year they should trade him.

Honestly, barring injury, there is no reason to pull him until mid-to-late June.

And if he "picks it up" they should absolutely NOT trade him
