OK, so you believe the Nats will compete in 2022.  I believe not.

I thought he was under control until after 2023. I was wrong. Yea, deal him.

I think Yadiel is under Nats control until he is about 50. Not even arb eligible.

I meant Bell. You hang onto Yadi. No reason to move a guy with more value to this club than any other. Cheap and hits is a good for a club trying to figure stuff out.

I like Josh Bell but I didn't realize he's a FA after next season. If he continues to hit well, he should be dealt after the season.

Unless Nationals get on a hot streak to close, I think they punt this offseason. I think they hold onto assets, but don't add. The labor shortage is confusing enough without knowing what you'll have.

If we get into 2022 and Strasburg is back, Corbin is not awful, and Soto is mashing and the young guys are producing, they'll be in a position at the deadline to go add and make a playoff push. If they're struggling, I think they sell off everything that can move and then Rizzo goes into offseason of 22/23 looking to add like $60 or $80 million in AAV of talent.

If you're a baseball team wanting to spend, there are always free agents and teams wanting to flush salary.

Tied with Colorado. Corbin pitching against Max Fried, so that's a likely loss.

Still tied for 8th, 3 games back of Miami and the Twins now. For fans who still think of the Rangers and Twins ties to dc baseball,  dc franchies have 3 of the top 9 picks. Toss in Baltimore, and it's 4 of the top 9

You might be the only one who thinks of it that way, JCA, but thanks for the trivia!

I have always hated the Baltimore Browns-Orioles and their bush league fans. Further, I hope that Minneapolis and Arlington lose everything, except in the tank-athon. Arlington, called by Shirley Povich, "a jerkwater town with a distinction only of being mid-way between Dallas and Fort Worth".

Of course, MLB should have moved the Twins back to Washington when it considered contraction of Minnesota and Montreal. And, of course, Angelos screamed against moving the Old Senators back to "his" territory.

Passed Colorado for 8th. Closing in on KC and Minnesota. A game behind KC and two behind Minnesota. Nats facing the Mets will be "interesting".

Mets were really screwed by the Phillies sweeping us.  Anything less than a sweep against us will be a loss for them

Mets pitching is a disaster. Hard to believe that their hitting has been so bad...likely to see the Nats "rotation" as Spring Training batting-practice.

Meanwhile, KC plays the Yankees, and the Yanks are winning ball games. New York needs a shortstop and CF and speed, I think, but they win. Let's go, Yanks!

Tankathon standings update:

6    Kansas City   49-64   .434   15.0   Lost 1   4-6
7    Minnesota   50-65     .435   15.0   Won 2   6-4

I've included the Cubs, who are a percentage point behind Colorado for 9th.  Game and a half separating 6th from 10th!

Rainey and Finnegan cap off the sweep, so we make up ground on everyone.

Getting really worried about the Cubs. They've lost 8 straight and got blown out big multiple times by Milwaukee this week. Nats are still ahead, for now.

Simple solution for the race to the bottom -- stop playing the following lame ducks: Escobar, Sanchez, Parra, Guerra,

Well, that's on a tie breaker, but it is a 3 way tie for 6th in terms of games back after last night.  2 behind Miami, 1 ahead of Colorado and the Cubs.

In Tankathon scoreboard watching, there's a big series starting tonight between the Marlins and the Cubs.  Cubs have momentum, much like the Lusitania, but the Marlins are more the Andrea Dorea in terms of a long, slow sinkage.

Twins are sitting pretty against the Rays, while Royals look to do an intrastate favor for the Cards. Rockies continue at the Giants.
