First all-Cuban triple play. Ramos, Becquer, and Valdy.
My dad talked about Connie Marrero of the "Cuban curveball", and Sandy Consuegra, but those two, and Fornieles, and Miranda were before I was old enough to understand much about baseball. And Mike Guerra played before almost anybody's time except for Ted Lerner. I did see Carlos Paula get bonked on the head one night. Camilo is one of my all-time favorite pitchers.
Did not know about that triple play. Saw my first MLB game in Griffith Stadium in the summer of 1951 (I was 7). Senators vs. Red Sox.
Marrero was a baffling "junk baller" -- sort of a poor man's Eddie Lopat (of Yankees renown). Solidly-built little right hander (like maybe 5'6). Won 11 games in both '52 and '53 (no mean feat with the Senators).
