Lol. The other 2 are minor leaguers. They are not really a “prospect”
That's literally what a prospect is.  A minor leaguer who may or may not make it in the Bigs.

Hopefully this burns like salt in a wound for the Lerners.
Why?  They have had all that deferred money to invest and make great returns.

That’s the definition of prospects. One of them is now the Nats tenth rated prospect per MLB.

https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/max-scherzer-trade-dodgers-finalize-blockbuster-deal-for-nationals-ace-and-trea-turner/

This trade makes me think the Nationals are super high on Gray and Ruiz.

There was a bidding war on Scherzer and Nationals didn’t get much relief on Scherzer deferred money. This wasn’t a simple salary dump. They brought back a couple Top 100 prospects.

Per Forbes mlb valuations. They do share the market with the Yankees.
You're referring to 2020 revenue numbers, where all teams were clustered together and the numbers were low (i.e. meaningless).  If you look at 2019 overall, the Mets are near the top of the financial health list.

From Nationalsarmrace.com

New #1 and #2 prospects in Josiah Grey and Keibert Ruiz. A starter who is MLB ready and a C who is probably also MLB ready right now. Grey should slot right into the Nats rotation, Ruiz probably as well. Both are already on the 40-man.

Two other top-10 prospects in Gerardo Carrillo and Aldo Ramirez. Carrillo is a big-arm, young (22), already at AA, lots of Ks per 9, could probably race to the majors as a 100-mph reliever. Ramirez is in Low-A, is also a starter and has immaculate numbers so far for his minor league career.

Four more mid-teens prospects in Riley Adams, Mason Thompson, Drew Millas, and Jordy Barley. Adams is a AAA-capable Catcher, one of three we acquired this week, two of which could go straight to the majors and end the MLFA parade going on there. Thompson is a AAA setup guy who could be useful going forward. Millas is a lower-level catching prospect, a High-A guy who will cover for the lack of progress out of Pineda. Lastly Barley is a very young SS IFA prospect who should slot in at LowA.

Three non-top30 prospects who give us some depth in Donovan Casey, Seth Shuman, and Richard Guasch. Casey is a AA OF prospect we got from LAD, while Shuman+Guasch were 2/5ths of Oakland’s High-A rotation. Wilmington now has 9-10 starter arms for just 5 spots.

The last deal of the day didn’t give us a prospect but a 4th OF type in Lane Thomas, who may go straight to DC or may go to AAA.

Zuck reports the Nats didn’t make any offers to Turner after 2020

https://www.masnsports.com/nationals-pastime/2021/08/should-the-nats-have-locked-up-more-of-their-own-stars.html
this isn't a complete shock.  I thought I saw reporting (maybe Zuck) to the effect that they were in negotiations before COVID hit, when he was 3 years from free agency, but that got closed down due to uncertainty over the season.  Then, last winter, when the 5 shortstops were 1 year away from FA (and one, Lindor, signed the big contract), he decided to see how the market played out.

EDIT  - looks like I heard that Rizzo explanation in the presser after the deadline which is where  I got it from.

Seemed pretty clear that the team entered the previous off-season with short term deals that would give the ability to shed further financial constraints if things went the way that they did heading into a new labor agreement period

out for the season with a hip impingement, whatever that means, will be getting surgery.

Letting Anthony go is getting up there with letting JZ and Desmond go.

Funny enough Desmond still has the most silver sluggers as a National (3). I believe rendon and zimm are the only with two.

This organisation has no loyalty whatsoever to their players. They don’t care about their fans

Is that the Wizards or the Nats? Or both?

(Wizards starting line up for next season - PG: Merlin  C: H Potter  PF: Dumbledore  SF: Prospero  SG: Gandalf - quite a line-up! Should keep the opposition spellbound...

Is there an MLB team that shows loyalty to their players?
It's a business. And there are good ways to spend money, and not so good ways to spend money.

Spending money emotionally is bad, no matter who you are

Yes, players move on when they want nowadays so teams should be able to make similar decisions.  Other than Turner everyone traded had their contract expiring this year.

they're also entertainment and putting out a bad product is also usually a bad idea. I'm sure we're entering a rebuild, hopefully not as bad as the last one and hopefully ownership and the front office realize how many of the fans will move on if they start bottom feeding again

we should have shown loyalty to jordan zimmermann and ian desmond. if they cared about the fans, mike morse would still be batting cleanup, desmond would be at SS and rendon would be on the DL. would have been much better for us IMO!

The Phillies showed loyalty to their core. They kept it going a bit longer than Nats did but then they've paid for it without a playoff appearance since 2012. No glory in keeping an old team together.

Right, this NOT a baseball town, regardless of what the homers in the TV booth say.

I was hoping nobody would bring up that silver slugger nonsense again.  The golden age of shortstops began AFTER Mr. Silver Slugger moved to other positions.  Poor post season hitting, low OBP, and inconsistent fielding -- usually took him until June or July before he reached an acceptable fielding percentage level.
