I bet on the Celtics before this started and see no reason to reconsider. The warriors had a pretty easy path to the finals. If the Celtics can stay healthy, I think the win

Celtics seem streaky. They don't need all their players to be on as long as one of Tatum or Brown is. They seem to have some depth. At their best, those two, Average Al, Time Lord, and the Marchand of the Hard Court are awful tough.

Could not resist. Put a $1 on the Heat at +315.

can't argue too much with that.  Celtics have a strange habit of doing dumb things with a lead late.  I'll give Marcus a bit of slack for some of his "hero ball" when no one else is moving to get open, but they seem nonchalant with their passing.  It was probably outstanding video work by the Heat and Spoelstra that pointed out to Butler how to read the weird passes, and the Celts do love the extra passes under Udoka's influence, but they do a lot of soft one handed stuff.  That said, if Time Lord is able to get enough rest for his leg between games, that does add a lot to the Celts defense.

Sounds about right. Will be tough to win a game six in Beantown. Maybe 7.

I’ll take the Celts in 6. I’m just not impressed with any of the teams the Warriors beat to get here

Funny to see the old Wizards bums show up in these Finals almost every year.  Now it is Otto Porter.

Warriors try to pronounce the names of Massachusetts towns.  Scituate.  Billerica. Go ahead, you try it.

Was called on as a suburbs/exurb pronunciation whisperer at one point when I was with a company that was looking to engage in that area, as the supervisor realized it could be helpful to sound somewhat intelligent when bringing up the various towns etc.

Remember, Worcester has 2 syllables and Revere has 3.

Turnovers have killed the Celtics all postseason and they know it. Entering Game 3, they were 0-5 in games they committed 16 or more turnovers (which they were on pace to hit at that point in Game 3) compared to going 13-2 in playoff games they committed 15 or fewer turnovers.

What to do when your team goes out, gets sloppy with the ball when they have a lead, and have 8 turnovers in the first half:

Quote
Ime Udoka may have saved the Celtics with a key question during a timeout after his team had committed some bad turnovers. According to a source, Udoka stepped into the huddle and said, "Will you guys stop playing like jerks?"

Aaaaaand we have our coaching moment of the year.

PS - "jerks" if you have the censor on, what he really said if you have the censor off.

Time Lord's knee deserves some attention, too.  He's quite a presence.

that's with Derek Trucks.  Nice.

Back to the series - what I'm getting a kick out of is how fans of each side are getting outraged at the other team's dirty play. Look, you don't get a reputation for good defense without the occasional mugging, flopping, etc...  Boston fans are worked up about Green, GS fans get on Smart.  I get more annoyed at the NBA's "you can't call that against so-and-so because it's the finals and that would influence the game too much." that seems more selectively enforced.

My basketball observations aren't great, but it seems to me the teams are a similar, just Boston is bigger and a bit faster, while GS plays cleaner (fewer mistakes) and Curry is the most consistent high-level player. Both are D, 3s, and drives.  Boston should have better rim protection, but GS compensates by collapsing and taking advantage of sloppy ball-handling.
