while he doesn't hit for power against lefties, his OBP and average have been fine.  With OBP good from both sides and some power vs. righties, that sounds like a #2 hitter to me, especially with Davey not liking to shift order slots based the handedness of a starter.

Seems we might be looking at our new first baseman come 2021.  Not sure why you'd want that bat behind the plate.

That left-handed stroke is art honestly.

If his defense is good as a receiver like I've heard though, his bat PLUS his position make him super valuable. Just don't play him behind the dish everyday and spell him at DH, 1B, or LF.

Assume you mean 2022. I still expect Josh Bell to be on the team next season.

The best case scenario is Riley Adams shows serious bat and they decide to carry 3 backstops. They could rotate Adams and Ruiz LF/DH.

We are a long way from that best case scenario, but it would be very nice.

I agree.  I don’t know if it would be better for him to bat vs righty’s at dh platooning with zimm and catch lefties or divvy it up so he catches Certain pitchers and Barrera/adams catch the others

Buster Posey usually topped out around 120 games a year behind plate, with 20-40 games at 1B. If Ruiz's bats warrants it, that's a good model.

Yup. This is the model I am hopeful for.

He’s a 30 homer bat at catcher

Maybe 200-300 at this rate.

Most aesthetically appealing swing from a Nats prospect since Rendon imo.

Keibert and Cavalli second on this list after Rutschman and Rodriguez.

Saw an inning of Rochester - Syracuse with Seth Romero pitching. Rochester scored on a doubles steal. Runner stole second on a weak throw by Ruiz while runner on third stole home on a hurried and off-line throw by Noll. Terrible play by the two. Ruiz is a long way from Yan Gomes right now.

(Ate dinner, came back, and Dakota Bacus has replaced Romero. Seth R: 4 innings, 4 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts. Only run the Ruiz-Noll play)

First batter I see: fly to right with runners om 1st and 3rd. Donovan Casey nails the runner at home with a powerful throw, but Ruiz drops the ball. Hmmm. Not so good. Then Syracuse scores again on a ground ball to 3b throw to first (Ford) just late and thrown back to third on a throw that skips throw through third baseman with nobody backing up. I used to tell my Little League team to hold the ball unless there was a good chance to get a runner. These guys should be better than Little Leaguers.

Promoted! I'm locking thread as we now have one in the Clubhouse and I doubt he returns to the minors anytime soon.
