Dougherty just tweeted that it's done. The Scherzer era is over. :(
I know that I am a hopeless romantic, but is there any chance we re-acquire Sherzer in free agency?

unless he's willing to come in for 2 years at $10 million a year, no way.

Gets to play for the Cubs and Cards.  That's like playing for the Red Sox and Yankees, except the reception in St Louis is much nicer because they are such great and modest fans and a class organization.

For Lester we get Lane Thomas, https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/thomala02.shtml

25 years old AAAA-type outfielder

not to be confused with Lane Bryant.

Probably reports to DC as a 5th OF.

Definitely didn't see that one coming...

Not sure it was mentioned yet and could have been overlooked with all the trades, but we also officially bought a House today before the Sunday deadline:

I hear our House is a very very very fine House.

The question is who will be the 5th SP? Corbin, Fedde, Ross and Espino are still here but I thought Lester would stick simply as filler. I can't see the Nats winning more than 23 games matching our third worst season (93 Losses in 2010)

Sterling Sharp probably gets a chance up here for the rest of the season. At the very least he should take Lester's spot or should start over Espino if they have another starter in mind.

Does Ruiz maybe sound like Wilson Ramos to anyone?
Not even a little

Jefry Rodriguez might be in the running.  For tonight, I'm guessing it is a bullpen game, with JRod and Harper getting multiple innings.

I feel bad for those of you who invested in 2021 season packages.  This is NOT going to be anything any baseball fan would want to watch.

Him or gray.

Wouldn’t mind rolling with voth, Fedde, Ross, espino, and Corbin.  The tank train cometh

Bell is having a pretty decent year, we have no other options at 1B for the foreseeable future, and Zimm cannot play every day. Bell should probably be penciled in for 2022 as well.

Aw. The Braves still think that they have a chance this year. How cute.
