Game Time: 8:05 PM

Ryan Drese, RHP (7-11, 5.55)
Drese will face the Astros for the second time this season. On July 23, Drese gave up six runs -- five earned -- in 6 1/3 innings against them. He struck out four batters and walked two. Drese's line doesn't look good on the surface, but manager Frank Robinson thought Drese pitched a good ballgame. Entering the seventh inning, Drese had given up only three runs. He left the ballgame with runners on first and third with one out. In Drese's defense, the Nationals did not play good defense behind him. In his last start, Drese pitched six-plus innings, gave up three runs on seven hits and took a loss against the Padres.

Andy Pettitte, LHP (9-8, 2.64)
Pettitte saw his season-high six-game winning streak come to an end in his last start, a 4-0 loss to the San Francisco Giants, on Friday night. He still pitched well enough to win, allowing three runs on seven hits in seven innings. It was the first time he's allowed more than one earned run in any start since June 14. The Astros have been shut out in three of his starts.

I've always enjoyed watching Pettitte pitch.  For once, I'd like to see him get bombed.

Can ANYBODY explain ANY reason why Preston Wilson  is playing?  He can't hit.  He can't field.  He strikes out every single time at the plate.

I know I'm in a crappy mood, but man, his existence is inexcusable.

We had better score some runs tonight.  Drese did not have a good first inning.

Maybe Wilson has a secret "Play me or Trade me" contract.

4-3 makes it 1-2-3, and we are back up.

And I don't like this lineup either.  I like the idea that Robinson is changing it.  Most of the season, he played the same lineup over and over and over again and we'd score two or three runs.

This lineup just isn't very good.

and why is Nick all the way down in the order hitting just in front of Wilson...I mean Nick in 6th - come on.....and Wilson must have something on Frank or Jimbo.....he needs to be on that Greyhound back to Colorado

0-4 with RISP already.  Looks like it's going to be one of "those games."

Drese sucks.  Watching this is like torture.  He got out of the inning only giving up 2, but it's only a matter of time.  Frankly, I don't see us coming back tonight so I would leave Drese out there all night.  I would not burn up Ayala.

Anybody else notice that Ron Darling seems just as frustrated as some of us?  I think he wants to jump out of the broadcast booth and smack some of these guys.  He is a low key guy, but his comments are starting to get a little more bite.  He really questioned FR for pinch hitting Guillen last night and he basically called Drese lazy just now.
