If it was another roller derby team they might have a shot. But I don’t think so with different sports. Maybe our legal experts can chime in.
I'll have to ask the Rangers attorneys, or perhaps United. I honestly don't know the law here.

It's not a money grab. It's more poor due diligence on the baseball team's part. They should have had the payoff lined up before they made the name announcement. This is not a case of cyber squatting. Frankly, I think the roller derby squad probably had to sue now, or else at some point they would forfeit their name rights.
You know what, settle out of court and make the baseball team take the right name, The Spiders.

it was inspired by the statues at the entrance to the Hope Memorial bridge near the park that are called the "Guardians of Traffic".Besides Spiders, Rockers would have been a good choice given the RnR HoF. A local radio station ran a poll a few months ago, Spiders and Rockers were #1 & 2, with Guardians finishing 3rd.
