I’m President of the Jake Noll Fan Club and look forward to him vindicating my faith in him.

But I’m talking about the fact this team will lose Cruz and Bell and be screwed next couple seasons. Bell should be an easy extension candidate.
Except he is a Boras client

Cruz is totally washed.   If we can get any kind of prospect for him, that is a gigantic win

What is CJ Cron signed for? That might be a model for Bell.

As for Yadi, I will be curious how they play it. He's cheap, probably low risk for 2-3 more years at near mlb minimum. That could have value in trade or as roster piece at the end of Soto's control years. Are we now building to contend with him? If yes, then Bell and Yadi take care of 2 lineup spots, along with Ruiz.  If no, then they are traded and we build for House and the high pick coming in 22 and 23. Watch what they do, not what they say.

Lol, Bell is a Boras client. He aint signing a Cron deal.

I've been saying it for a while, if Bell is consistently >125 wRC+ this season, hes going to garner a 50+ million dollar deal. Particularly with a universal DH.

Back to back seasons of consitency for Bell at age 30. Good teammate. Boras as his agent. The time to sign him to an extension was right after we traded for him.

If we want him, its going to be full price in the universal DH market. Deal him at the deadline. With expanded playoffs, some offensively challenged team will give up prospects (Houston, Milwaukee, Minnesota).

From 2018 - 2022, you could argue they were the same offensively, or pretty close. Cron is 2 years older. Let's put it this way: if bell is asking for $50 million plus over 3 years, I would trade him. You can always find prodtive first basemen

Bell 2 for 21 his last 7 games. Is this the Bell that we hoped would bring a treasure trove at the deadline?

This board is the worst sometimes. He had a tough week, he's still hitting over .300 with good production and playing good first base. I am actually in the "I hope they extend Bell" camp, but he is going to get a very nice return if they go that route.

The amount of knee jerk reactions to a few games is sometimes amazing.  Both ways.

Hey dude. He is batting .291 and has 1 hit in his last 23 AB’s.

So what's your point?  That the last 23 at bats outweigh the rest of the season?

Regression to the mean. I’m wondering if he has hit his ceiling and is a .270 hitter at best.

Very little injury history, .270 avg with 25-30 HR and a solid defensive first base is a very good player. He wasn't going to hit .330 this year, but I will take .270 with his pop all day.

Bell currently 9th in WAR in the NL and 6th among position players.

I wonder what we'll get for him.

.358/.447/.695 hitter for June.

He's the best hitter available at the deadline. I will be disappointed if we take less than what the Cubs got for Rizzo last year

If the Red Sox are interested, I'd ask for Bryan Mata.  He's throwing 99 now that he's finally back from TJS.

well, Schwarber got one of their better pitching prospects, so it's something to think about.
Heck, it's unusual, but give them Edwards too if their willing to put Mata in (there might need to be other pieces)

Id be asking for more than Mata. Before injury, he really didnt have secondary stuff to stick in the rotation. Even with 99, he projects to back of the rotation or relief. Much more interested in Bello or Wikelman Gonzalez as the center piece. Maybe Blaze Jordan.

wasn't thinking of grabbing their top starter in Bello.

Another guy, more of a shot in the dark at this point, would be Noah Song. You'd think the Pentagon would be more receptive to allowing him to play if he was on the local team ;)

At any rate, a top pitching prospect for Bell would be a reasonable ask. I view the price on him as similar to Schwarber.
