So Bell's season started on April 12.
If you take away the first month of the season for him, and start at May 9 (effectively when his second month of regular at bats started) he's hitting .286/.342/.535.
Its been a consistent performance as well.
May 9-31: .288/.338/.515
June: .282/.363/.521
July: .287/.333/.552
August (as of Aug 6): .286/.318/.571
That is remarkably consistent for a player who has struggled with consistency. If this continues, his last two seasons are, rffectively, 130 wRC+ seasons at first base.
I think if the Nats cant get an extension this offseason, Josh Bell probably becomes more expensive than is feesible to extend/re-sign during or after next season (if he continues to perform like this). He's a younger version of Rizzo if he keeps it up with the bat
