Journey and Toto are playing at Capital One Arena on May 9.  I'm surprised they are playing in an arena of that size as basically a cover band. The only originals still with the band are Jonathan Cain and Neil Schon.  Randy Jackson is back with the band on bass.

Neil Schon is basically the Journey sound. Do they still have the Filipino guy singing? Sounds more like the lead singer would sound now anyway.

Yeah, Pineda is still the league singer. It's getting to the point where the replacements have been in the band longer than the originals, at least it's that way for Styx now.

So you think they'll be lovin', touchin', squeezin' another?

This show would be fascinating to film and make a documentary about, sort of a Heavy Metal Parking Lot cultural moment.  I expect that there will be a mix of geezers and people who weren't even born when roller rinks played Journey for couples' skates.

Jukebox was really equitable tonight, but some country imperialist has jumped the line to break up BB King, Johnnie Lee Hooker, and Etta James. Literally pushed JLH 7 songs down in the order, at least.

But I am appreciating country lyrics. Seems the singer had something to say about drinking alcohol.

What's turkey day without a Little Wing?

Gonna  do a poll of the best version - the original, Derek and the Dominoes, Skid Row, and this.  Of course, there's only one answer.

Very interesting to hear early versions of songs that went on Let It Be and Abbey Road.  Also believe I had read before that the tension was between George and Paul mostly. He had to be thinking my songs are just as good or better that these two. Why are they the leaders. Yoko just sitting there most of the time was bizarre.

George's 'friends' were even more bizarre.

My favorite part is toward the end of EP1 when Paul is working on Let It Be and everyone around him is engaged in side conversations, oblivious, except for Ringo, that he's developing one of the greatest songs ever written. We joked that it was similar to the scene in "Yesterday" when Jack is trying to play Let it Be for his family and they keep interrupting him as he gets madder and madder that they don't appreciate the song.  In the span a few minutes Paul played parts of Let It Be, The Long and Winding Road, Carry that Weight, and Golden Slumbers, all just classic songs.

Let it Be the movie captured some of George's feeling of just being a side man for John and Paul.  I don't know if he snarked back at Paul with that comment or if it was somebody else. Of course, it was John who said "let's just bring in Eric Clapton" when George took his hiatus.

I never saw Let it Be.  Seems too depressing.

It was. Get Back uses the same video library but paints a much broader picture of their relationships whereas Let it Be mostly focused on the conflicts.
